Product description

Review

This promising debut by Ottawa journalist C. B. Forrest is planned as the beginning of a series. The setting is Toronto and the central character is Detective Charlie McKelvey, a man lost in grief and guilt. It seems that in a burst of "tough love," McKelvey turned his son out of the house and the boy was murdered. McKelvey is certain he knows who killed his son, but there's no evidence and the investigation seems permanently stalled, until McKelvey is forced to retire. Then the scene is set for him to have either justice or revenge. -- The Globe & Mail

Sometimes fiction writers simply tell too much of the story. Others, like, author C.B. Forrest, leave your imagination free to roam, meeting the writer halfway in telling the story. And a poignant, well-constructed and compassionately told story is what The Weight of Stones is. Forrest gets the balance right...I couldn't put The Weight of Stones down. It's a must read for 2009. Forrest is working on his second novel. Read this and wait. --Hamilton Spectator

"The Weight of Stones" shows great promise… so I was happy to learn that it would be the first of a series which I intend to follow. --Reviewing the Evidence.com
