This book was recommended to me for my wife and I as something to read to our nephew when he visits, and it really was a hit. He loved the characters and the artwork, and now he wants a hard copy from Santa (we cast it to our TV to show him). Perfect choice for parents looking to get their kids interested in reading. Also has a nice message and fantastic water colour artwork!

I purchased the book because I was looking for something a little different. The book is well written, tells an incredibly heartwarming story and has beautiful illustrations. It's nice to see a change in children's books.

I never knew there were raccoons in Holland, but surprisingly there is because many escaped from zoos and other places. This book takes us to places in Amsterdam which is educational and different. i also learnt about Dutch food. I didn't know what an Oliebollen was so had to look it up. Apparently they are a kind of doughnut.
There are great illustrations to accompany Wesley's journey, showing us what Amsterdam looks like, the streets, houses and canals. I believe they must be colourful illustrations because the vibrant colours are described. I got the ebook version so only saw the illustrations in black and white.
Wesley is wandering around because he is looking for some food. He decides to head to the houseboats on the canal. He falls asleep on one old houseboat. Wesley is woken by an old man. At first Wesley is afraid because he is scared by strangers, but the old man is friendly and gives him food and drink. They soon become very good friends. This a delightful and different story. I think children, parents, grandparents and teachers will enjoy this book.

An enjoyable children’s narrative that reminds us of the importance of not giving up and to continue looking for that happiness ahead so desperately needed in these difficult times! And that joy can be found in the most unsuspecting of places! Thank You MP
