This inexpensive little reference book is very well written and will be of interest to all who care for snakes. As a new snake owner I found lots of very important information, however this book would also be helpful to long-time snake owners or to take along to a vet who may not be all that familiar with snake illnesses and diseases. At the back is a reference chart outlining what to do when you have a snake that is ill along with suggestions for medications and their dosages by weight. Excellent photographs throughout thoroughly illustrate the information.

I'm a biologist, and this book contains a wealth of valuable information on snakes, and what can ail them, that would ordinarily be found only in a much more sophisticated and expensive title. Highly recommended!

There are so many things that can go wrong while owning a snake and with this book you have a very good chance finding out what the problem is.It gives clear concise instructions on what to do of the various problems that can arise. Most things you can correct yourself and those you can't the author advises you to see a veterinarian which the author is himself. This book has more than 190 pages and covers a lot of ground and has many useful tips on general snake care.I found it quite useful and I have kept snakes for over 59 years.

The book has lots of pictures showing what ailments look like and tells what signs to look for. It shows treatment options and lists drugs used for common ailments (and causes). Also a few at home remedies.
It's a handy book to have in case of any common disorder.

...from a great vet and excellent herpetologist. John Rossi is THE herp vet of the Southeast, and certainly in Florida. I've had the good fortune of living near his practice in Jacksonville, FL and he's always helpful.

It has an amazing amount of information on diseases in snakes and how to prevent common problems that create diseases and infections when keeping snakes in captivity.
