I'm not a self-help books person. I even used to mock them. But my psychotherapist recommended me this book. I went through some very, very ugly stuff (miscarriage, diabetes diagnostic, discrimination at work, among others) and developed a lot of anxiety and panic attacks -he said it'd possibly be the last line of defence before starting with meds.
I didn't even made it to 50% and was cured. Following the exercises religiously, logging mood on an app and identifying feelings, traps and re-programming the thoughts (with the plethora of techniques mentioned in the book) did the trick in a couple of weeks. I'm really grateful. I've recommended the book to a couple of friends and it's had similar effects. Thank you!!
