Product Description

Aggressive, physical, and brave, Jake Owens is a small town football hero turned big city cop who passes his time with meaningless encounters believing he can’t have who he really wants: Nate Richardson, his best friend since before forever. Thoughtful, quiet, and kind, Nate is a brilliant doctor who has always known who he is and has never been able to shake his crush on loyal, courageous, straight Jake.

After a passionate night together, Nate realizes Jake isn’t as straight as he assumed, but he worries that what they shared was a fluke, a result of too much closeness for too long. For Jake, the question isn’t how they ended up in bed together because he has always known that Nate holds his heart, it’s how he’ll convince Nate that he wants and needs to stay there.

I wish I could rate this book higher than 5 *s. This was the most beautiful, most perfect love story I could possibly imagine. I did read other associated books in the series that had hinted at their relationship before I read the book. I was a little bit prepared but still... Makes me cry, every time.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite couples! Feb. 17 2014

I loved this book and I loved Jake and Nate together. They had such a strong and unbreakable love for each other. I enjoyed the fact that the author shared stories from the time they were children to show the strong bond they'd always had. It was wonderful to read a book about a true love story and not have it be filled with a lot of conflict. There were a couple situations that brought on some tears for me but mainly it was a feel-good book for me.

I will admit that the first couple times I read a conversation that I had just read from the other MC's POV, it was a little annoying and I didn't think I'd care for it. But as the story progressed and we shared in more of their life, it became less of a focus on repeated conversations and more focus on what the other MC thought and how he felt. I ended up liking that aspect of the book.

As soon as I finished this book and went back to re-read some favorite parts, I ordered He Completes Me so I could read Aaron's story and am enjoying that story as well. And then I'll order the next one in the series.
4.0 out of 5 stars So sweet - almost too much - thankfully there is a lot of heat too Dec 29 2014

I love Cardeno's stories. When I am in the right sort of mood for her books nothing is better. Her men are emotional and messy, and downright scorching at times. This story has an interesting back and forth of perspective from each of the two characters. At first it kinda bugged me, but then as the story progressed I started to enjoy hearing both men's thoughts from their point of view. Sometimes when authors do this it can be downright exasperating. I think this one is balanced enough to make it enjoyable.
The 2 men in this book are almost too loving. Can that be a problem? Yes, if there is not enough dirty to balance the sweet factor it can be. I think of this story as a comfort read. The kind of book I am in in the mood for on a rainy Saturday when I want to drink some hot soup and lay on the couch with my Kindle and warm up all over. I love how the men in the Home Series make appearances and then later you get to read their whole story as a separate piece.
Like I said, rainy Saturday, Cardeno book bingeing - who needs Netflix when I can be entertained like this?
5.0 out of 5 stars Fall in love with M/M romance May 10 2016

This is my favorite M/M love story so far (and I'm reading voraciously.) When I finished this book I did something I've not done before, I started over and re-read it. The author does a really good job re-telling the story from both characters point of view in alternating chapters, you don't feel compelled to skip ahead or skim. The many love scenes were precisely that, even when they were filthy sex scenes. The bonus chapter was the only "eh" part of the story I think the story would have been stronger with out it, though I'd really like to hear more about Nate and Jake as they go through life. Perhaps a story about their future kids...? This one stands out, highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderrful Sept. 20 2013

I didn't think I'd like this book. I generally don't like books that span a decade or more, and I can get really annoyed at flashbacks, but this book handled both the time span and the flashbacks just about perfectly.

It is an extremely well-written book with believable, empathetic characters and totally plausible situations.

Above all else, it is a true romance, a story of two best friends born on the same day, inseparable throughout their lives, who rediscover each other as the lovers they were always destined to be.

It's really as simple as that, but the tale is woven so beautifully that it was a pleasure to read. It is, when all is said and done, a book about love - a love that was always going to happen to these two, as written the day they are both born.

Please read it. It is a beautiful story, well told, and really moving.
