Have you ever prayed for a miracle to end the pain and depression that comes with living with Osteoarthritis and Fibromyalgia? I have. But on January 1st of 2015 I embarked on a new eating plan that many people were finding complete pain relief with. I had purchased the book 'It Starts With Food' by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig last November and read it through twice before making the decision to try this new way of life. It really was going to be a new way of life for me because I had been vegan for the past two and a half years and to go from never eating animal protein to eating animal protein three times a day was really a huge drain on my spirit. But I beleive miracles come in many forms, and my miracle started with 'It Starts With Food'. Ten days into the program, I was completely pain free. I was bursting with energy, and my Type 2 Diabetes daily blood sugars were all in or below normal range. By day twenty-one I had no more ringing in my ears and the clouds were lifting in my brain. Swollen legs and feet were no longer a problem. I just felt like I was being re-born! After each one of my wonderful meals with my grass fed beef, chicken or pork on my plate full of fresh veggies...my body would feel so pumped up it would do it's own version of the happy dance. It was amazing! Sixty days after starting the diet, I'm ashamed to say that I broke it when we were away and it didn't take long for all the aches and pains to come rushing back. It was horrible! I have waited for my copy of Whole30 to arrive so I could get myself back on track. The book is beautifully done. EVERYTHING, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING you need to know about the plan is in this one, very well written and organized, high quality book! The recipes look simple and easy to make and judging from the photographs will be mouth watering good.Read more ›

Great recipes, a great way of eating without starving. This is a super plan to follow for rapid weight loss and better health. It says for 30days, but we will continue with most recipes to maintain our weight, and also because we love them..

I started my own Whole30 on Jan 1 this year. This way of eating has changed me for the rest of my life. If you think this is just another diet, you're wrong!!! It's a way of life!! The change you will feel is incredible!!!

I waited for the book to start my second Whole30 as I got off track after the first, wanted to loose the rest of my weight and get that GREAT feeling back. This is day five and the feeling is mostly back already!!!! I bought three books, I feel so strong about this, I knew one person with aliments that I wanted to give this to and am giving much thought as to who gets the other copy.

Yes, this is work but extremely worth every effort! I had type 2 Diabetes, It's GONE, no more meds!!!!!! It's only 30 days, you absolutely have the time, give your only body a wonderful change!

I really enjoy this book because this is the first time I am doing any type of cleanser. I also haven't cooked much in my life, so I find the recipes very helpful as well as tasty .The seven day suggested meals give one a good idea as to how to prepare meals for the next three weeks and two days.
I initially took out this book from the library but it had such a lot of helpful information and suggestions that I felt I needed to buy it, both for my 30 day cleans and to be part of my own library.

This book changed my life!! I started the Whole30 in July of this summer, completed my 30 days, and have continued on as a new pattern of eating. I've lost 29 pounds so far!!! It is the most natural, easy guide I've ever come across to truly change the way you eat. I feel like a whole new person :)

This book changed my life. No library should be without it. Well actually don't buy it if you aren't going to commit to the process. It's only 30 days that can change your eating habits for life. We've been on it for 60 days now and feel so much better. No more medication for acid reflux required. Not hungry between meals. Shopping is so much easier. The recipes in the book are great. My wife loves cooking and trying the recipes. I love eating them. Never ate so many vegetables before. Bottom line - eating this way just makes sense.

We are very happy with the diet it's self. But don't buy this book thinking that there are going to be A LOT of recipes. The information is absolutely necessary to get a handle on the diet, but as a person who collects cook books and loves trying new things...this was a little disappointing. We don't eat beef in our family, or (usually) any meat that has been "ground";( outside what we might do for ourselves) and sadly, for me, salmon is off the menu. There are exactly 5 recipes using chicken, 5 for seafood and 4 for pork. Not a lot of selection to choose from for 30 days. And you better like eating...interesting...things for breakfast. Like: "left over ground beef and spaghetti squash" or "left over chicken and roasted potatoes with a drizzle of pesto"...not what I am used to for breakfast food. And you BETTER like eggs, lots and lots of eggs! Don't get me wrong, I think the diet is wonderful, and you'll need the book to get started. But if you like variety in your diet as well as being compliant and following the plan, you're going to need a lot more help than this!
