Coffee table book with great photographs - ideal for pre-trip dreaming or general interest. This WWF publication is informative on all counts: natural history, conservation issues, and animal behaviour. If you have an interest in wildlife Borneo is a must-see and this is one of the best wildlife primers I have found yet. Thanks WWF - keep up the great work!

HASH(0x9e73cf84) out of 5 stars an excellent addition to an excellent series Nov. 30 2006

Nick Garbutt's "Wild Borneo: the Wildlife and Scenery of Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan" is a wonderful addition to an existing seies for the lay reader and expert alike. This series, started by New Holland Press and continued by MIT, has volumes on "Wild ....." including Indonesia, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Thailand. All were done a half dozen years ago or so. Thus this well-written and beautifully photographed book is most welcome. It is also reasonably priced for its intrinsic value. To underscore its importance, one need look no further than the name of the author of its preface, Sir David Attenborough. It covers Borneo's habitats, wildlife, people, The Heart of Borneo, fabled Mt. Kinabalu and ecotourism and conservation. Garbutt is also the author of the excellent and comprehensive "The Mammals of Madagascar."

HASH(0x9e73d1ec) out of 5 stars Great Pictures and Information April 23 2008
By Roberta J. Kelley - Published on
Format: Hardcover
This book provides an excellent overview of what to expect in going to Borneo. The explantions are not lengthly where one gets tired of reading and the facts are written in a lively narative. Great for one who wants to see what this interesting island offers in all aspects of it's wildlife. Because of the size you probably won't have it in your luggage when you go, but great for researching before the trip and taking notes. Glad I have it!!!

Format: Hardcover
The author has spent some time researching and developing this beautiful book on Borneo. Borneo is truly a treasure that needs to be protected as well as the animals and (native) people living there. The pictures bring to life the amazing variety and aspects of animal life in Borneo and parts of Malaysia. Great book with great information.
HASH(0x9e73d6a8) out of 5 stars Largest Island in Asia, and the Third Largest Island in the World March 14 2016

Format: Hardcover
This is a very nice book. The book is filled with wildlife, everything from sea life to mammals of the third largest island in the world. There are orangutans, proboscis monkeys, venomous snakes, etc. There is also the world's largest flower in the book, Rafflesia. Borneo is the largest island in Asia as well. Other animals in this book are elephants, gibbons, and hornbills. It is a lovely tropical island; this book is a MUST for anyone interested in all kinds of nature.
