Product Description

Angelica Amante at twenty-four must make a career-ending moral decision when the high-profile New York law firm she works for demands that she use her brilliant legal talent to protect the wealthy by exploiting the poorest of the poor.

Blackballed in New York, she returns to her parents’ California wine country estate, Regalo Grande, determined to start over. There she meets Antonio, an illiterate stable hand who cleans the stalls of her father’s Arabian horses. He has an inner strength, integrity, and peace that she longs for in this time of turmoil. And soon she is drawn to him in a way she cannot deny.

As she gets to know him, Angelica discovers that Antonio has left the abject poverty of his home near Guadalajara, Mexico. Immediately her compassion is reawakened.

Angelica finds herself fighting her mother’s prejudice and her father’s insistence that she follow the lifestyle she was groomed for. With her mother seriously ill and her father on the edge of financial ruin, must she betray her family to be true to herself?

One decision will change her life forever.

From the Back Cover

This decision could change her life forever. But how can Angelica choose between her career and her heart? As the rising star of a prominent law firm and the only daughter of a wealthy horse-ranching family, Angelica Amante has everything money could buy. Things can only get better for her. Or so she thought. When she's offered a promotion, Angelica is suddenly confronted with a life-changing decision. Should she continue to work for a company that profits by taking advantage of the poor, or take a stand against injustice and put her career in jeopardy? Then Angelica meets Antonio, a handsome and determined worker on her father's ranch. As she gets to know him, Angelica discovers that Antonio has left his poverty-stricken home in Guadalajara, Mexico, and illegally crossed the U.S. border to find work. Immediately Angelica's compassion is reawakened. Soon coinciding circumstances and conflicting lifestyles cause their worlds to collide, and Angelica and Antonio find themselves at a crossroad of faith, love, and selfless commitment that will forever alter both their lives.

HASH(0xa3b143d8) out of 5 stars Finally, romance without the smut and WITH God's Love May 30 2006
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
I truly couldn't put the book down. Nikki Arana used her love for God to create a magical love story. I used to read romance novels but I got sick of all the lust, sex and smut. The Winds of Sonoma is a romance novel that reveals the love of God, faith and believing and a true love that exists between man and woman.

Thank you Nikki Arana!

HASH(0xa3b10aec) out of 5 stars Awesome new novel from Nikki Arana! Jan. 12 2006
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
I'll be honest; I've never read a romance novel in my entire life. But I heard some good things about a new novel,The Winds of Sonoma, by author Nikki Arana, and thought I'd check it out. And I have to say, I wasn't disappointed in the least. The detailed characterizations and the smooth writing style were quite impressive for a first novel. Angelica Amante, a privileged young lawyer on the rise, finds her match in Antonio Perez, a dirt-poor Mexican immigrant working at her parent's ranch. It's a class-act story about class differences, and how true love can overcome any barrier - even prejudice. A spark of romance runs through a satisfying and very substantial story. Nikki Arana makes the unconventional possible, and the impossible, attainable. I truly look forward to reading the next novel by this talented new author.

HASH(0xa3a55900) out of 5 stars Big THUMBS UP from Chadron MOPS July 12 2007
By B. Miller - Published on
Format: Paperback
The Winds of Sonoma is an encouraging story of God's faithfulness and love. This is an inspired story by the author, Nikki Arana's life. This book has challenged me to stop judging people based on the clothes they wear or how much worldly goods they have or don't have. I want to allow the Lord to show me the beauty He sees inside people. Winds of Sonoma is the 1st book in the Regalo Grande series and I look forward to reading the other books. ~Shelly of Chadron MOPS

HASH(0xa3a55aa4) out of 5 stars Winds of Sonoma Oct. 10 2005
By AK - Published on
Format: Paperback
Faced with doing something that goes against her Christian beliefs, Angelica Amante gives up her position in a prestigious law firm and returns home to Sonoma. There, she finds herself working to help the very people her boss wanted her to hurt. She also reunites with a past love. Now that she is home, does she have a future with Brad, a man who can save her family from financial disaster and make her dreams come true, or does she dare love Antonio, a handsome illegal immigrant who makes her heart sing? Each day, she is faced with choices and the challenge to defy prejuidice and live out her Christian faith, no matter how costly.

*** Angelica truly lives up to her nickname of Angel- a messenger of God. She is consistent in practicing her faith without ever coming off as a "goody goody" type. Though at times her romance seems improbable, this is a heart touching read that will be relevant to many people in the Southwest in particular. ***

HASH(0xa3a55e4c) out of 5 stars A real page-turner Nov. 25 2005
By J. Graham - Published on
Format: Paperback
Angelica Amante has it all--beauty, a great job, loving parents, and a healthy trust fund. Not to mention the fatherly support of an old family employee; Poppy. So when Angelica leaves her job with a prestigious law firm to return to her family's ranch, it's no wonder things turn upside down. Now questioning her own beliefs about the plight of immigrants and the poor, she must look deep into her heart and trust God more than ever before. When Angelica meets Antonio (a Mexican worker on her father's ranch)her feelings for him only complicate matters. How can two people from such different worlds ever come together?

I loved the novel. Arana's treatment of immigration issues is certainly no dry "evening news" approach to discussing the subject. Antonio and Angelica come alive on the page. I found myself reading quickly, turning pages as fast as I could to find out what happened next. A satisfying romance that WILL make you cry, "The Winds of Sonoma" is a definite winner.
