HASH(0xa7327ea0) out of 5 stars Learn from the Best May 14 2012

Many have heard perhaps his most famous advice: "I will tell you how to become rich....Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful." Wise no doubt, but he's funny as well. This two chapter book made me laugh and all though reading it may not make me rich, carefully applying some of the wisdom within may just do so. And if not at least I got to laugh.

This by the way is an extraction from a large and incredibly detailed 3-volume study of Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway.Of Permanent Value: The Story of Warren Buffett (Part I) If you want to know everything about Warren Buffett this is the book for you. There's a hard-copy as well, but I love the

A great and funny little "book"--I always knew Buffett was a financial giant, but I really didn't know he was so clever. He's great in these little bullets of insight. You can read a bunch in a row, or mull over each one. Glad I stumbled across this--a real treat!

I appreciate good wit and wisdom as much as anyone, but this is not that. The best quotes are attributed to the originators, who are (for the most part) not Mr. Buffett. Many quotes taken from shareholder meetings and annual reports do not seem to stand well on their own, and without the back story lose their effectiveness.

I truly enjoy hearing Warren Buffett speak, whether it is a prepared speech or as the co-host on Squawk Box, but this book of wit and wisdom has been judged and found wanting.

Save yourself some time. Read a Bartlett's Book of Quotes and skip this.
