Product Description

There is an old superstition among sailors that women at sea bring bad luck. Despite this, many women have proved their seafaring skills. When we think of Pirates we have a tendency to think of masculine men. But did you know that the most successful pirate of all time was a woman? Neither the Chinese, British or Portuguese navies could stop her.
In this delighful short book author Anna Myers takes a look at the lives of eight wicked women pirates.

HASH(0xa3ae7828) out of 5 stars Shiver Me Timbers! May 2 2012
By JD - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I bought this book after reading the 19th Century Women Serial Killers by the same author. The writing style is factual and to the point. There are stories of several of the most well known women pirates, some of whom were real characters. It's nice to know that not all of them were pure evil, but had reasons to turn to piracy.

If you're interested in history then you will like this book. Recommended!

HASH(0xa40290a8) out of 5 stars A Very Cool Book Dec 4 2012

I downloaded this book thinking it was a romance novel and I probably wouldn't be that interested in it (being a man). Then I started reading and discovered that Sylvia is talking about real women who were real pirates. I soon got caught up in the narrative and read the whole thing before I realized it. It is a short book, but very interesting. She has done her homework and given the reader a glimpse into a world that I didn't know existed. I liked this very much.

An interesting book on a little-known subject which I found fascinating. These women were a diverse lot; I didn't even know they existed. The photo and illustrations increased the enjoyability of the read, as one wonders what women pirates might have looked like. The book is an easy, enjoyable & quick read.

A light, fairly entertaining read. Not too in depth, but some interesting history, rumor and innuendo. Gives sort of a thumbnail sketch of each of the women covered.
