HASH(0x9caf2864) out of 5 stars A must have for anyone with a brain! Nov. 29 2009

"Woof!" is exquisitely written! I love this book. The PERFECT gift for anyone with a heart-full of love for dogs -- and a "brain-full" of appreciation for the written word! The writers have a glorious gift in their ability to allow the reader to FEEL what the writers have experienced. And the stories run the gamut -- whimsical, very funny ("My Commodore"!), touching, philosophical...
I've given four copies (so far!) as gifts. And of course, I bought one for myself!

A collection of powerful, poignant short stories by contemporary writers about their often complex relationships with dogs. You're not likely to see dogs the same way again after you read this book.

This was a real find & introduced me to several writers with whom I wasn't acquainted. A bit uneven, but the best contributions are really terrific.

I read a lot and I read a lot of books on dogs, as I'm a dog lover and do lots of fun things with my dogs. I must say, I have not read a worse collection of "dog stories" (using the term loosely) in many years, if ever. The writing was atrocious in most of the stories and the stories mostly consisted of people talking about how their dog or dogs (in some cases several in the same story) were killed or injured by cars or guns, mostly because the owners were woefully ignorant of the most basic responsibilities of dog ownership. Letting dogs run loose to be killed or injured and then blaming others. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs, or anyone who loves good stories or good writing.

What a fun book. A gift for my sister, who owns a "Doggie Bed & Biscuit".
She will love it.
