There's a few aspects of this book that stand out. The first is a review of what whisky/whiskey is and how it's made, how it varies from country to country, and some history of the fluid. The second is a more detailed review of the areas in each country and the things that make the whisky different in each distillery, as well as geographic area. The third is a review of whisky itself, what to expect, what the tasting notes are (including how to taste) and a look at some whiskys you must try. All three parts, individually, would have made a great book; together they work well and are interesting reading!

This isn't just about scotch whiskey, but also cover the variants from the US, Japan, Ireland, and so on. It even touches on rye and other variants on the theme. All of this adds to one of the best overviews of this drink I've ever seen. The writing is excellent, the photos add to the narrative, it's well laid out, the book production value is high; in short, this is a great book on the subject for those who are learning, and those who are experts alike. Highly recommended.

This book is fantastic. It covers a variety of countries - Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Japan, and anywhere else in the world where they make whiskey. I'm partial to scotch and the massive section on Scotland is amazing. The book is so indepth with the process of how to make whiskey (it explains rye, scotch, and Tennessee straight), what the different whiskey types are, the different scotch producing areas in Scotland, and the different brands you can get. The book is super informative without being overwhelming or way too wordy (I'm looking at you, Jim Murray!) and the photos in it are stunning. This book is like a piece of art and it's probably one of my most treasured books.

Fantastic guide to whisky, easy to navigate and learn about the whisky you already drink, and others you might like to try. Beautiful coffee table book to boot.

Great gift for yourself, or another whisky lover.

A great way to understand, not only rate whisky. Understand the way it's done, the particularity, why some smell and taste are so appealing. But also a lot of bottle are reviewed in an interesting way.
