I did like this movie, I thought it could have been better but most Zombie movies that come out these days are pretty bad straight to video and not good. This one on the lines of 28 days later was worth seeing and I hear there is a part 2 coming so I look forward to seeing it.

But I like big summer movies so I took a leap and watched this one. For a zombie movie it wasn't bad; full of great set pieces and non traditional settings. I liked the crazy implausible scenes in Israel, on the plane and the suspenseful last adventure in the lab. Brad Pitt is decent and convincing and Daniella Kertesz as an Israeli soldier who gets her hand chomped off is a strong presence. She doesn't say much but looks good beside Brad while his wife is stuck in a refugee camp. Usually movies that take themselves sooooo seriously are off putting to me; I mean whoa, what if this really happened!? Somehow World War Z carries it off. Worth a look.

World War Z is a special kind of movie. It combines elements of many of my favourite kinds of movies; from end-of-the-world disaster movie, to action and detective movie, to suspense and virus movie, all in the guise of. Zombie picture. One needn't be a fan of zombie movies to get caught up in this globe-trotting adventure, but don't expect a plot-heavy film as this picture spends little time on story or character.

The 3D graphics were very good. For someone not normally into zombie movies this was a very entertaining movie as it was more a suspense than a horror film. Additionally, there is a degree of plausibility in the overall concept in that a major disease today can rapidly spread throughout the world in our modern mobile society. Great acting, great entertainment value.

The world ignores the signs of global disaster and the next thing you know there is a world wide zombie (closer to rabies) pandemic. The incubation period is 12 seconds, yet somehow the infection was able to be transmitted by airplane to the entire world. I am still scratching my head on that one.

Brad Pitt, who is now a family man, must save the world to save his family. There is some background noise that would indicate the zombie outbreak might be caused by how man destroys the environment and ignores the signs (global warming, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) The world is thrust into anarchy, while the military exists.

Brad must look for the original virus somewhere in the world to find a cure. We discover N.Korea is unaffected because they pulled everyone's teeth. Israel is unaffected because they have a great wall around their country, but apparently cold isolated places like Greenland are infected. The only reason I point out these inconsistencies is because the film writers went to great length to make the film realistic. Oh yes, if you have a lot of people on a ship, they share beds and sleep in shifts.

I enjoyed the film more as a pandemic film than a foot dragging, flesh eating, living dead, rotting zombie film, because that is what it was. I would say if you don't like Brad Pitt, don't see this film. There is very little screen time that doesn't show his face. Should make for a good video game and a decent sequel.

Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity.

The story is simple: like any other zombie movie that we have seen before, there is a virus that is spreading and turning everyone everywhere into zombies. Who can save the human race by developing a cure for this disease? A loving father working in the United Nations, of course. In case you don't know, I'll give you a hint who that father is: it is Brad Pitt.

Despite the repeated premise, the movie is actually quite enjoyable. I haven't read the book it is based on and I heard that the book was pretty good. So, I went with higher expectations. I should have known that the big studio would hash out a generic zombie movie. This movie is watchable, but this is no Dawn of the Dead.

Another good quality movie. I liked the vision the film makers have of how would ``really`` look like a zombie outbreak. No doubt that the situation would look that desperate fast. I liked the idea of the last stand in Israel, that is finally overcome by the zombies... The concept of the disease that spreads fast and people becoming mad is plausible, but the super zombies that are phisically so superior to humains is hard to swallow. So it could have been more realistic. But still the whole movie is captivating. Recommended.
