I loved it. The art and story were great. I would recommend this to fans of romantic comics, and not just teens.
It turned out that a lot more would happen than Staci could ever imagine, including losing her best friend. Faith just kind of disappeared off the radar and wouldn't respond to any of her calls or texts. When she asked Mr. James for help, he simply said, "You can either try to learn more about it ... or keep your distance from it." It got even creepier when Morrow claimed they were going to head to the Museum of Natural History to "commune with the ancient spirits of the Inca." A séance was one thing, but breaking and entering were quite another.
Safe distance? It was dumb, but Staci decided to go, but it wouldn't be long before she'd regret her decision. They were looking at a mummy in a case. "It says he was sacrificed 500 years ago. They left him to freeze to death on top of a mountain ..." When the cops arrived the girls ran, but when Staci went back to get her purse she was confronted by a "reanimated Incan mummy." Things spiraled from there and she found herself actually falling for this hot reanimated Incan. "Your friends," he claimed, "are dabbling in the same secret magic I was. Dangerous energies that no one can control." Would Staci be able to stop them before disaster struck and the magical powers upended civilization?
This is the exciting and creepy tale of Staci Glass, who is falling for a "reanimated Incan mummy." In this graphic novel panels are created in the typical black and white manga style. The mummy, who is an Incan named Pachacutec, has to help Staci undo some big time evil magic her friends got themselves messed up in. Of course she begins to fall for him because her "boyfriend is a monster." The plot is fast-paced, exciting, and has just the right amount of tension to keep young readers moving along. The novel is aimed toward younger readers, especially reluctant ones with its simple, but high interest plot. If you have a youngster who enjoys a bit of paranormal with a bit of quirky romance, this is one series you may wish to consider!

Staci Glass, our main female lead, has the normal teenage girl angst but at her core is a solid, believable character who develops feelings for the monster in question but like the other females leads in the series never builds her life around him even if offered the power to do so. The conflict in the story is really about teen girl cliques, desires for personal power, and curiosity that I could imagine myself living through (and probably did to a non-supernatural degree). The story reminded me a bit of the movie "The Craft" in some ways but not as dark and more focused. Natalie Nourigat's illustrations are in the same style as the previous books in the series, offering good details in line with the text but also adding to it.
If I had a teenage daughter or son for that matter I'd recommend they read this. Not only is Staci realistic and powerful but "Chuck" is as well.
