Lives up to the Wusthof name

These are great kitchen shears. I've had them for 5 years now and they are still going strong and cut as good as the day I bought them. I use these for just about everything from cutting whole chickens, cutting fresh herbs off the plant, cutting string, cutting open plastic deli meat packages and I'm a bit ashamed to admit, I've even used them as a make shift slotted and philips head screwdriver on a few occasions.

The bottle opener works well but I have a dedicated bottle opener that I find easier to use.

Cleaning wise, these are super easy. They come apart when you form a 90 degree angle with the blades and these just come apart. It makes washing them super simple and unlike scissors that do not come apart, I know that I am cleaning in between the blades, which is so important especially after cutting chicken and then switching to vegetables.

Pros:
- Comfortable to hold
- Cuts just about everything and maintains its sharpness
- Easy to clean

Cons:
- I guess they are more expensive than other brands

Since he has a number of the Wusthof knives which he is very happy with, I decided to go with the Wusthof brand of kitchen shears. Another deciding factor was that there was a space for scissors in his Wusthof knife block, so he already had a convenient place to store them in. Now that he has been using them for over a month, I can honestly report that he is EXTREMELY HAPPY with my choice. Since he is very conscientious about keeping his knives sharpened, he was very impressed with the take-apart feature of the scissors, to enable a more perfect sharpening. They definitely honour the high-end quality found in the Wusthof products.

Update Dec 2013 - I still like them, the edge is holding up well, with no drop in cutting performance and they not not needed sharpening. I am buying a second set to use in the garden for dead heading and light pruning - they perform better than my garden pruners!

All in all, we trust the brand and so it was worth the cost for us!

They are still sharp, and there's no rusting on any of the parts, unlike some stainless steel scissors that are put together with screws that rust.

The plastic handles are nice to hold. The metal blades feel sturdy but I can’t really comment on the metal’s hardness yet. But the scissors are very sharp out of the box. Then it is the all important joint that allows the blades to come apart, it is great! When locked in, the joint doesn’t feel loose yet gives a smooth rotation which allows for easy scissoring. The joint is also very intuitive to separate and reassemble the blades. The blades themselves have just the right amount of bend to touch tight, which gives a good shear but doesn’t create too much resistance. For the price, I feel I have a quality product made with precision (all about the joint). When the time comes I can imagine it is much easier to sharpen this pair of scissors.
