Yoga for Taming the Mind shares a seasoned yoga teacher’s proven methods that will help anyone draw from the healing energy within, find renewal, and realize optimal health and happiness.
There is no question that stress is a worldwide epidemic that can paralyze the body’s innate ability to heal itself and maintain a natural state of wellness.
The good news is that through the Dr. Bali Method of Yoga, we can learn to ignite our own body’s natural healing response, manage and even eliminate stress, and ultimately tap into our full potential for healing and wellness.
Dr. Bali, a renowned yoga teacher and founder-director of Yoga Bliss, begins by examining stress factors and their impact on the body. While sharing simple exercises that encourage a mind-body connection, methods that teach how to utilize the chakra system to harness energy, and meditation and breathing techniques that bring balance and harmony, Dr. Bali provides easy-to-use alternatives for those seeking inner peace and relief from stress. Included are insights, self-massage techniques, testimonials, and inspirational quotes.
Dr. Madan Bali is a Vedanta scholar with a Doctorate in Complementary Medicine and the founder and director of Yoga Bliss, a research and training centre based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Now in his nineties, Dr. Bali continues sharing the joy of yoga in his classes and workshops.

Of the traditional eight limbs of Yoga, postural yoga prevents the body from interfering with self-realization. It also primes the mind-body for meditation practices. Overall, traditional yoga was developed to help lead us home to what is natural to us: self-born comfort, self-empowered healing, and our own spacious experience -- because no one says, "Suffering feels so natural; I want more of it!”, Madan Bali, a gem of a yoga master and Vedanta scholar hidden away in Montréal, Canada, teaches a postural yoga aligned with these higher aims of Yoga. His method is not so much about the postures (skillful and grounded though his routine is) but about what the postures were developed to do for us -- and to teach us to experience. Because of his 40+ years of focus on healing and teaching (not selling a product), Bali, who has a doctorate in complementary medicine, can skillfully present traditional yoga in terms that Westerners easily comprehend. He makes the rich tradition of transformative postural yoga accessible to all -- which it should be.
Taming the Mind introduces yoga and presents the Bali routine, safe for any age group (most of the postures are on the floor) yet challenging for anyone at any age, and recommended for stress-management, psychosomatic issues, the immune system -- published studies show its positive effects on persons recovering from cancer. I myself practice Tibetan Buddhist meditation (6 yrs) and find that Madan Bali's Vedanta view and yoga method (used for 1 yr now) uniquely complements my practice, I recommend it to anyone serious about meditation or accessible traditional yoga. The companion DVD makes it possible to practice the routine with Madan Bali, whom you can listen to at www.yogabliss.ca to develop your own opinion.
I hope this was helpful to you.
