Product Description

This new release, in the dualdisc format offers a full-length CD album on one side and and a DVD featuring the full album, usually in surround sound, along with videos, behind-the-scenes footage and a wide array of bonus material, including lyrics, biogra

Despite the piercings and spiky hairdos of Good Charlotte frontmen Joel and Benji Madden, the filth and the fury of punk are not in evidence on The Young and the Hopeless. Rather, Good Charlotte lean toward the sunny power pop favored by the lighter Huntingdon Beach, California, outfits. Nevertheless, with the title track and "The Anthem" ("I'm just a minor threat"), the band appeals directly to high-school outsiders. Relationship problems are delved into in "Wondering" and "Say Anything," and they even find space to explore comic horror with "My Bloody Valentine." So they're not as intense or enraged as the hardcore likes of Black Flag or even Linkin Park. But the undeniably strong melodies this bunch comes up with have plenty of appeal on their own terms. --Dominic Wills

Good Charlotte doesn't even deserve 1 star. I first saw a picture of Good Charlotte about a year ago. I thought "Right on!" Thinking that they look like a hardcore band, or something like Rancid. 2 months later I watched a VIDEO ON MTV (first clue something was wrong) of a song that I don't even remember. I almost threw up. What do these people think they're doing? Certainly not playing punk music. Ramones, Rancid, Misfits, Black Flag...that's punk. Blink 182 and Good Charlotte is studio-doctored, corporate-churning, conforming, brutally-pansy, money-making, lame excuse for music period. I can't stand to see a Good Charlotte cd next to a Fugazi cd. There's a band worth your money and your time. FUGAZI. not good charlotte, a bunch of phonies. Anyone that understands that punk was about doing your own thing, not caring what other people thought (even, gasp, the radio, where nobody would ever let their music be played) anit-corporate...all these people, I want you to remove the Good Charlotee, the Blink 182, the Simple Plan cds from the punk section and put them in the pop section where they belong.
Good Charlotte is a joke.

Good Charlote has come a long way from theur first album. They are better (punk-wise) than Sum 41 and Blink-182. I have rated each track on a 1-10 scale.
A New Beginning- no words, also creepy(6/10)
The Anthem- my favorite track on the album. very upbeat and fast (10/10)
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous- very good, i like the point that joel makes(9/10)
Wondering- good sweet track(9/10)
Story of my old Man- another song about the dad who left them(7/10)
Girls and Boys- catchy chorus(8/10)
My Bloody Valentine- creepy with a good title for the song(8/10)
Hold On- everyone can relate to this song(8/10)
Riot Girl- worst track on the album(4/10)
Say Anything- another well written song(8/10)
The Day that I Die- good punk love song(9/10)
The Young and the Hopeless- my second favorite song. catchy and realistic(10/10)
Emotionless- fast but not that cathy(7/10)
Movin On- a great end to a great album(9/10)
Overall Good Charlotts's second album is their best. Even though it lacks a powerful single like Little Things the other songs make up for that. This will be one of your favorite albums.

Good Charlotte's debut album was incredible, combining driving punk rhythms with mellow harmonizing vocals and smooth, creative ballads to produce a classic. Its been two years since the first CD, and anxiety has been following "The Young and The Hopeless" around every corner- from critics to fans alike. Everyone set the standards high, but this manages to deliver on every level. The band keeps the formula which made their first cd successful, but shows much growth between the two. Benji, Joel, Paul and Billy created a set of 14 songs so catchy that any listener get up and sing along, sympathesize or identify with, or just listen to for the sake of hearing good music for once. GC has really dipped into a few new musical styles- no two tracks sound the same, but all are oddly alike for some reason I cant put my finger on. Its tough to decide if its better than the original- but I honestly think it is.. its really been awhile since I've had a CD that I can listen to start to finish and completely enjoy. Any punk fan should pick this up, as well as the GC guys out there who shouldnt have to even think twice! If ya like Mest, Lucky Boys Confusion, NFG, Blink, Green Day, Home Grown, or ya get the point- buy GC's latest effort- you will not regret it! Go check em in concert- they are the best to their fans
Fav songs:
"Say Anything"- Great, deep song about the awkwardness and sadness
of a loss- be it girlfriend, best friend, or anyone
"The Anthem"- Awesome, catchy song about not giving into trends
and just being yourself and having fun- the typical GC anthem
"The Young and The Hopeless"- Incredible, fast punk song... about
GCs struggles as a band and all the obstacles they've faced-
dont ever give up local bands
"Hold On"- Moving song by Joel and Benjis to their fans who can
identify with family problems- things get better, just hold
And of course Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous!!!!! Buy this now!!!!!!
