Product Description

*A new sizzling romance from a USA TODAY BESTSELLING Author*
Sebastian Bennett is a determined man. It’s the secret behind the business empire he built from scratch. Under his rule, Bennett Enterprises dominates the jewelry industry. Despite being ruthless in his work, family comes first for him, and he’d do anything for his parents and eight siblings—even if they drive him crazy sometimes. . . like when they keep nagging him to get married already.

Sebastian doesn’t believe in love, until he brings in external marketing consultant Ava to oversee the next collection launch. She’s beautiful, funny, and just as stubborn as he is. Not only is he obsessed with her delicious curves, but he also finds himself willing to do anything to make her smile.

He’s determined to have Ava, even if she’s completely off limits.

Ava Lindt has one job to do at Bennett Enterprises: make the next collection launch unforgettable. Daydreaming about the hot CEO is definitely not on her to-do list. Neither is doing said CEO. The consultancy she works for has a strict policy—no fraternizing with clients. She won’t risk her job. Besides, Ava knows better than to trust men with her heart.

But their sizzling chemistry spirals into a deep connection that takes both of them by surprise. Sebastian blows through her defenses one sweet kiss and sinful touch at a time.

When Ava’s time as a consultant in his company comes to an end, will Sebastian fight for the woman he loves or will he end up losing her?
*This book is a standalone. Each book in The Bennett Family series will follow a different couple.*

I would like to thank the author for providing me with a copy.

I don't have too much to say about this book. I liked it, but will admit I almost DNF'd it. I pushed on though because I really didn't want to waste the gifted book. I'm happy I did because I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.

From the very start, I enjoyed the writing quality and flow and ease of reading. That's always step 1 for me: writing quality. If a book is written in a fun, easy way as this one is, it's bound to be pretty good.

The characters were good but also a little typical. Sebastian is the rich CEO while Ava is the hardworking businesswoman. I enjoyed that she wasn't the poor girl-next-door-type. Although he paid for everything on their outings, she was more than financially capable of it. Overall good characters, although a little boring.

The plot itself was pretty predictable but still enjoyable. Ava can't engage in a relationship with anyone she is hired to work for as per her company's rules. For him, she's a forbidden fruit because of this. Eventually he does win her over and the two date. I found the pacing at times sometimes slow. It got to the point where I was only reading about interaction after interaction with the two but no action.

About 50% in was when I really enjoyed it. A light seemed to switch on. The characters got more enjoyable to read about. The plot made you start rooting for them. I'm not sure what it was, but around the middle mark was when I stopped reading just to finish the book and started reading because I really wanted to.

Overall it's a good book but not one I can see myself reading again.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In this first book in The Bennett Family series we meet Sebastian, the CEO (and founder) of Bennett Enterprises. His business is important to him but his family is the most important thing in his life. Bennett Enterprises is extremely successful in the jewelry industry with many family members holding positions in the company.

When Sebastian sees Ava who has been hired as a marketing consultant for their new line, he's instantly attracted to her. This couple tried to keep their relationship professional but that didn't go too well for them.

Layla Hagen has written a wonderfully descriptive novel with very likable characters that gripped my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. It was interesting the way Ava and Sebastian were drawn to each other but tried not to give in to their desires. Ava was a strong, intelligent woman who did her job well. Sebastian was also strong and intelligent but it was nice to see his soft side when he was worried about the way Ava felt about him.

I love the Bennett family and am looking forward to reading more about them.

I found this book to be a great read with wonderful character that put family first business second. The characters are strong the plot is great and the passion is high. Ava is a strong willed woman who is use to doing everything for herself. When she meets Sebastian she finds he is as strong willed and bullheaded as she is. It is hard to miss the attraction between these two when they first meet. This is a story built on family, honor, friendship, and taking the bull by the horn. It is a book filled with humor, love, compassion, teasing, as well as a few heated scenes.

Ava is a lovely character that toes the lines her company gives her. When she met Sebastian she finds those lines bending. As she is adopted into the Bennett family she feels a completion that she has never felt before. This is a family that works together and has each other's backs. She doesn't take without giving, she really is a down to earth lady. There is no doubt she is strong but at times I felt she gave in a little too easy for her character. All in all she was a lovely lady that is very likable.

Sebastian is alpha all the way and use to getting his own way. He does have a weakness for his family there is nothing he wouldn't do for them. He is attracted to Ava from the start and plans to make her his as soon as possible. She throws up a few blocks but is nothing to what he is about to throw at her. He is a very likable character who has an ego to match it. He doesn't throw his weight around nor his money. He isn't afraid to use his money to help those he care or take down those who hurt the ones he cares about. I did think it was a little out of character for him when Ava had to go back to NY and he didn't take after her.

Okay I again was so entertained and devoured the story every waking minute, okay every minute no matter if I was awake or asleep. Why does the author cause such a reaction of emotional turmoil after reading her books? This one is no exception just pure ingenuity at work. Sebastian and Ava I fell head over heel for. I’m a fan of the Bennetts and look forward to following the series. I had a feeling Logan would be next and I’m not telling why it is either. Good banter between the protagonists, yeah . . . I felt how strong they were, their characters that is. One fierce and independent the other the same the only difference CEO of a highly reputable jewelry company. The tension of pursuit entangled ones mind. What made you feel the gist of things while reading this story, their vulnerabilities. Yep, they have it too but etched in granite. Ava wanting a family, wish she could surround herself with siblings and Sebastian feeling responsible for his brood of siblings and his parents. Their weakness hidden well inside but for reasons unbeknownst to them their vulnerabilities unites them. The pursuit, teasing, bantering and discovery of each other made this story spellbinding. I know some might say they read it before and maybe you did; however it’s nice to read a swoon worthy story and just imagine what if? Where is this Bennett Family? Can they adopt me? Ava, my heart went out to her immediately, intelligent, workaholic, raised by a single mother who worked three jobs to get by. Driving herself to scrimp and save for the one thing she wanted and wish she could have given her mother who since pass. What you might ask? Read the book for yourself, not telling. Ava pretty all business like and a clause that will make or break her career, what could it be? Hmm . . . not telling.Read more ›
