Product Description

From the Back Cover

Psst . . . pull up a chair and I'll tell you a secret. You'd better lean in close for this one.
You don't have to
do more, be more, have more.
I'm sure there are security alarms going off somewhere. You should probably hide this book when your in-laws come over.
But it's true.
It's the kind of true that will change your life, set you free, and make you wake up smiling for the first time in a long time. I know because that's what it did for me. . . .
So watch out, sister. If you keep reading you just might be next.

With this heart-to-heart message, Holley Gerth invites you to embrace one very important truth--that you truly are already amazing. Like a trusted friend, Holley gently shows you how to forget the lies and expectations the world feeds you and instead believe that God loves you and has bigger plans for your life than you've even imagined.

"This is a book for every woman who needs to find her way back to hope, Jesus, and everything she was made to be in Christ. Holley Gerth is a fresh voice for every woman--she echoes the voice of our Father."--Ann Voskamp, New York Times bestselling author of One Thousand Gifts

"Holley invites you to settle in with her, to hear the words of Christ, and to walk away changed. I have a feeling you'll be calling her your friend by the time you finish the first chapter."--Angie Smith, Women of Faith speaker and author of I Will Carry You and What Women Fear

"Holley Gerth turns words like a poet. Warm and personal, You're Already Amazing is a biblical, practical handbook for every woman's heart."-- Emily P. Freeman, author of Grace for the Good Girl

My Reflections:

Funny how life works...I was booked to review a completely different book and that book was back ordered so the kind people at Graf Martin sent me another book in it's place. It was "You're Already Amazing, Life Growth Guide." At first I was like "yep another self help book, been there done that." But after careful and dedicated study sessions with The life Growth Guide alone I was eager for more, I asked for the original book "You're Already Amazing."

You're Already Amazing

I can honestly say the encouraging and heart felt words of this book resonated with my soul. I am now eager to start a book study with some of the ladies from our church using both of these books. That my friends, is just how great this resource is!

Every woman in every stage of life needs to read this book. The thought provoking questions along with soul searching reflection pages dig deep and allow the reader to really ponder the lies we believe, the falsehood that we can't love who God made us to be...so preposterous right?, but to some extent we all are victims to this very lie...

If you are a woman of God, but struggle with self doubt, your emotions, relationships, connections and taking care of yourself this book is for you.

Life Growth Guide:

The Life Growth Guide takes it all a step further. With online resources and group study lessons you will be prepared to work as a team or individually to really get to the bottom of the reasons we discount how AMAZING God has created us to be, right now right here, right in the middle of diapers, dirty dishes and all the messiness of life we tend to find ourselves in.
Holley Gerth is engaging and down to earth, she comes across as your best girl friend.

If I told you right at this moment that you were *AMAZING* would you believe me? (I bet not...) Would you laugh it off? (I bet you would!) Whenever I receive a compliment of this magnitude I give a weak, "oh, thanks" but then will start to list off the reasons why it's simply not true. Even though God created us to be unique & yes, amazing in His image!!

Cue in: You're Already Amazing!

This isn't just a "typical" book that you just read through, enjoy & pass on so someone else can read it. Oh no, THIS is a book that you read through, enjoy, take mental notes, then pick it up again, rearead it and work your way through it slower, thoroughly with more thought and a notebook & pen nearby! THEN, you pass it on to your daughters, friends, sisters, neighbors, etc... but don't forget to ask for it back, 'cause you're gonna want to keep this one!

This book *really* spoke to me and I was surprised at just how much I could relate to Holley. As women, and i'm talking about ALL women, single women, married women, young women, older women, etc.. we are always trying to make & keep everyone happy, no matter the cost, especially if we're short-changing ourselves. But then where do we come in? Usually dead last, correct? Ever notice how I post my never ending "to do" lists on my blog, but I don't "balance" them out with some "personal *ME* time", until i'm feeling so over-run, depleted, and overwhelmed that I have to get in some me time before I totally lose it. lol! *blush* I'd be willing to bet that most, if not all of my blog readers can relate!

This book takes you through why we are the way we are, why we act the way we do towards others and ourselves, and how to work on changing our "bad habits", but NOT ourselves!!

From beginning to end, this book emanates an inspiration that warms the heart, calms the mind, and encourages the soul. It begins with a 'dare' for readers, women in particular, to accept the following:

"You don't have to do more, be more, have more."

Beginning with a heart-to-heart talk, Holley Gerth reaches out to the inner emotions of women who tend to be overly driven toward perfection, anxiety or non-stop activities. Just like Philip Yancey's assurance about the grace of God for us, that we do not need to do more to get God's grace, or to worry that God will give us less grace if we do not perform, Gerth does the same with regards to accepting the person we are created to be. She works through this acceptance and assurance through nine fundamental questions.

Throughout the book, there are multiple charts and exercises to give readers a chance to discover themselves as amazing creation of God. Gerth writes with special understanding of the female psyche. Chapter after chapter, she works on assuring readers that it is okay to take care of themselves. It is fine to embrace one as created to be. The Go-Deeper guide and discussion questions at the end of the book will be an exciting complement for women's Bible study groups.

Closing Thoughts
Three thoughts form the framework for this book. Inner assurance, emotional awareness, and inspirational application. I find myself eavesdropping into how women encourage women. Will I recommend this book to my Church womenfolks? Certainly. Will I recommend this book for men? Why not?

Gerth has done a great job in assuring women readers. Male readers can learn a tip or two from the way Gerth has written this book.
