“Some guys call, some date, and some guys, they might even get married. But, sweetheart, I ain’t any of those guys...” ~ Zeke Declan

Every girl in Galveston County knows about Zeke Declan’s rules and has agreed to them or is considering them.
Rule #1 Don’t call him. He’ll call you.
Rule #2 He doesn’t date.
Rule #3 No sleepovers.
Rule #4 Absolutely, no virgins.

When a couple friends talk me into going back to their hometown in the Bayou for the summer and challenge me to break “the best damn lay in Galveston County” along with every single one of his ridiculous rules, I’m confident that I can get the job done. I’m no stranger to men. I have five older brothers. I’m a teacher and I’m used to being around rebellious teenagers. However, Zeke Declan is definitely not someone that I could have prepared for. He’s not a testosterone-fueled, immature boy. He’s a confident, arousing, playful, and mind-melting man. But, behind that sexy charming smile, I know he’s hiding a secret. And, in order to break him, I’m going to need to find out what it is...

Zeke is the last of the "Breaking the Declan Brothers" series. I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is that you need to read the books in order since every brother appears in each book.
We've always seen Zeke as the ultimate playboy. He has his 'rules' when it comes to girls and we've always been led to believe it's because he wants to hit it and quit it. We discover in this book, that's not the case. Those rules are to protect himself, and also to protect anyone who might try to care about him. He has trauma from his past that he's never dealt with, or even told anyone about. It's been simmering inside him for over a decade and he's been able to keep it from boiling over by keeping everyone at arm's length.
Lurlene is determined to break all of his rules, even before she knows the reasons for them. She knows from their very first meeting that there's more to him than he lets people think. Slowly, she's able to crack the armor he's built around his heart. She's the first person to not accept him at face value and to call him on his crap. He's never had anyone try to fight his rules and get close to one has ever cared enough to see the pain that lies underneath.
I love Lurlene's character. She's strong and she's stubborn; refusing to give up on Zeke even when he wants her to. She's determined to make him break ALL of his rules for her, and by doing so she's able to work her way into his heart. She's exactly what he's needed all this time. I hate that he suffered silently for so long, but he needed someone who cared enough to persevere without getting frustrated with him and giving up. She's nothing but supportive when the painful truths of his past are revealed and she accepts him exactly as he is.

I received this for an honest review. I have read all three books of Breaking the Declan Brothers and each book has been amazing. Kelly Gendron is one amazing author. I have books that I refer to as shelf worthy, which means not only do I have them on my e-reader but they are so good I have a copy on my shelf at home. This is one series I call shelf worthy. This is the third book in the series but do not worry it can be read as a standalone.

Zeke Declan had 4 rules: (1) Don’t Call him. He’ll call you. (2) He doesn’t date. (3) No Sleepovers. And (4) Absolutely no virgins. You have to look at Zeke to wonder what caused him to have these rules. With each of the Declan brothers you discover there is some kind of scar there that they need to right woman to heal.

Things from Zeke’s past broke my heart. Sorry you will have to read the book to find out. Might want a box of tissue though. I cannot imagine leaving with that much pain, hurt, and guilt for so long. He defiantly needs to have someone to talk to. When you keep something like this in for so long it eats at you until there is nothing left.

I love Rayna and Emmie have talked Lurlene in to going after Zeke. Lurlene is perfect for she can not only get him to break rules 1-3 but is also the perfect one to break rule 4. Yip that is right Lurlene is a virgin. I so enjoyed reading about how she worked on breaking down all of Zeke’s walls. Does not mean that Zeke didn’t fight her along the way. There was so much hot sexual tension between the two of them.

I loved Rusty in this series. She did not mind telling it like it was. I think she is one of the reasons that Lurlene kept pursuing after Zeke. Rusty thought a lot of the Declan brothers and wanted what was best for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ride The Lightning Jan. 22 2016
By Doris - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Who wants to take a ride on the lightning? Every girl in Galveston County evidently. Taking that ride with Zeke Declan comes with some rules: 1)Don’t call him, he’ll call you 2)No dating 3)No sleepovers 4)Absolutely, no virgins. Oh, yeah he also doesn’t go back for seconds. Zeke is the youngest of three brothers who own JZS which is a bar where there is a fight cage set up in the back. All three brothers know how to throw a punch or two and look damn good doing it.

Lurlene came to Galveston County for the summer along with two of her best friends who had grown up in this town and both of the friends had a history with the Declan brothers. Lurlene’s friends, Rayna and Emmie, came up with the idea that the three girls were going to break these Declan brothers because all three brothers seemed unattainable to the female population. Since Rayna had history with Slate and Emmie had history with Jax they gave Zeke to Lurlene. Now what is a high school English teacher going to do with a guy who is known for having so many rules? Yep, that’s right…she’s going to have him break every one of them.

Lurlene had been out taking in the sights one day and this guy jogging caught her eye and once he started a conversation with her she could not believe that he could quote English literature. Now this guy had her attention but the only thing was she couldn’t get a really good look at him because of the baseball cap he wore so low over his face. To say that Lurlene was surprised when Rayna and Emmie had her come to JZS with them and they pointed out that Zeke was in the bar and he was her mystery man that could quote Oscar Wilde, was a complete contradiction to everything she had been told. Zeke could always be found surrounded by beautiful women who knew his rules but still wanted to take “that ride”.

Lurlene took it upon herself to keep to breaking her Declan brother and his crazy rules. Good luck with that because Zeke had no intention of letting anyone close to him. No attachments was a necessity to him and he wasn’t going to let that cute redhead that he had met at the park be the one and only person in. Lurlene kept chipping away at his rules until the very end. There was something that Zeke wouldn’t let anybody in to see. He was tragically devastated as a little boy and had never come to terms as to what happened and whose fault it truly was. Was he willing to let Lurlene break down those walls he had built or would he make sure that even Lurlene had to stick to the rules…even if he was falling for her too?

This book had you needing to see if Zeke would really let himself finally fall for someone who had taken his heart and what was that secret that Zeke had kept all of these years. The road that Zeke and Lurlene took was full of angsty foreboding feelings of love and sexual tension that was off the charts. The HEA with this book had you going “aww” at the end and feeling so glad that you read a kickass book like this. On a side note; you have to read Jax and Slate’s stories as well because none of these brothers will let you down.

This book was provided as an ARC from The Book Enthusiast for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zeke Jan. 22 2016
By C. Arcidiacono - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I am kind of sad that there are no more Declan brothers left to break. I thought the first book with Jax was my favorite, then Slate came along and I fell hard but you should never underestimate the youngest Zeke, for he stole the show. Yes, he has some crazy rules but what fun it was for Lurlene to break them and wasn't that part of the plan? To break the Declan brothers. What a great, emotional, sad, funny series that will leave you feeling everything is right in the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Swoonworthy finale March 23 2016
By The Romance Reviews - Published on

Be still my heart…an inked up MC who can quote great literary minds, kick ass and take names in the MMA cage and who's known as the "best damn lay in Galveston County?" Yes please!!

When Lurlene's friends Rayna and Emmie coerce her into spending the summer in their hometown of Bayou Vista, TX with the goal of breaking the three Declan brothers, Lurlene is skeptical. After all, she doesn't know Zeke Declan from Adam, and besides, she's a virgin. According to the notorious "rules" that Zeke has in place, she's not exactly the kind of woman Zeke would even look twice at.

Zeke is known around the Bayou for being a good lay, not for his long term potential, which is A-OK in his book. Except, when he meets Lurlene, he gets the feeling that she sees more in him than any other woman ever has...and he's so screwed.

UNGHHH, Ms. Gendron, if you found a way to bottle the potency of your MC's, you'd be a mad genius! ZEKE is the third book in the Breaking the Declan Brothers series, and like the first two, it packs a wildly erotic and emotional punch. From word one, your heart just breaks for the hell that Zeke has gone through in his life. You just want to grab him and stroke his back and whisper that he'll be ok, big mama's here. Lurlene (sorry to all named Lurlene, but it doesn't give me the warm fuzzies for a MC when all I can picture is a 75 year old big haired, gum snapping diner waitress whose sexy days are behind her) saw through his BS almost immediately, and witnessing Zeke's subsequent panic mode was sweet.

Speaking of sugary goodness, while there was lots of romance, the good stuff took a back burner to the two of them getting to know each other as platonic friends, something that was good for Zeke's ego and a solid foundation for their blossoming relationship. The sexy duo had mad chemistry, however I would've liked some more sweet sweet lovin' in ZEKE, because once just wasn't enough! And although I really enjoyed the book as a whole, the ending felt really rushed and didn't do justice to any of the couples. Even so, I'm anxious to sink my teeth into Daring the Kane Brothers, Ms. Gendron's upcoming series focusing on Lurlene's wild and crazy siblings.

Bottom Line: A swoon worthy finale to an EXCELLENT, emotional series. Pick them all up and prep the tissues, wine and batteries for a long weekend in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love those Declan's!! Feb. 9 2016

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Lurlene goes to Bayou country with 2 of her friends for the summer. Her friends are from there. They have decided the "Break the Declan brothers. Both of the friends had either "had a thing for" or dated one of the brothers. They have decided Lurlene will lose her virginity with Zeke as she breaks him.

Zeke doesn't do relationships or dating. He is good looking and can please the ladies. He makes it clear to them that sex is as far as it will go. He actually has "rules".

One day Lurlene is sitting on a bench overlooking a lake, admiring the beauty. She exchanges a few words with a man jogging. They talked of books, authors, quotes... Later on that night, after getting to JZS Bar, the bar the Declan brothers own, Lurlene discovers the man she met in the park was Zeke Declan.

Zeke is working his magic with the ladies as usual and Lurlene finds it quite easy to hand him back what he is doling out. There is, of course, some hot attraction between them. Little by little, Lurlene starts to break through his "rules" and Zeke finds himself becoming more attached to her....he wouldn't admit it though.

Zeke has those rules for a reason though and that of course is not to let anyone in. No one really knows why he hides his heart though, and it will be a shock. If Lurlene can get him to talk, they have a chance.

The Declan brothers lost their parents when they were young, probably aged 7-12 years. They then came to the Bayou to live with their grandmother, who passed away a few years ago. Jax, the oldest then became their dad so to speak, when he was a young adult.

Zeke hides all his pain very well with his arrogant attitude. He and his brothers all fight (MMA style) in the club. Although he didn't go to college he is very well read.
Lurlene is a English teacher.

Although Lurlene started off on Zeke as a "project" it changed quickly. She didn't tell her friends much of what was going on with them. It became more personal. She knew he held in pain.

Zeke has a friend named Addy, Addy is in her early 80's. Their story alone is worth reading this book!

I would definitely recommend this book. I have already read Jax' story and I have Slate's ready to be read also. You will be looking for the other 2 books once you finish this, you will want to know all the brothers!! This is a standalone book, no cliffhanger.
5.0 out of 5 stars Zeke 4.5 stars Feb. 1 2016

Zeke is the third and final book in the Declan Brothers series. In the previous two books, we’ve always seen Zeke as the young, care-free brother who is charming, egotistical, sexy and charming. At 28, he’s named as the Best Damn Lay in the Bayou, and he’s quite the philanderer. Any woman who wants a night with him understands his rules: don’t call, he doesn’t date, no sleepovers, and no virgins.

Lurlene, has emerald green eyes, red hair, and a hot body for a high school teacher. She came along with friends for a summer vacation back in Rayna and Emmie’s neck of the woods in Texas. She’s talked into Rayna’s mission for the summer: make and break each Declan brother. Problem is, Emmie has history with Jax, Rayna has a history with Slate, so she’s got her hands full with Zeke. I had to hand it to Lurlene because she was relentless, inventive, but still respected Zeke’s boundaries. What she didn’t expect was that Zeke Declan had more layers to him than he’d ever let people see. Zeke’s intelligent, but was never able to go to college because of family circumstances. He loves to read, is caring of others, and protective of those unable to defend themselves. He’s actually the most broken of all three Declan brothers, but he’s hidden painful secret since the death of his parents. He’s never talked about it, and it’s one complex emotion. It’s heartbreaking what Zeke endured as a young child, and other than his brothers, he’s never allowed anyone close enough for him to accept love.

I thought Lurlene was the challenge Zeke needed. She is smart, nurturing, compassionate and challenges Zeke at every level. Growing up with five brothers has taught her to be competitive, tough, and pretty much a jack of all trades. And that’s what takes Zeke by surprise at every turn. I loved this story, it’s has likeable and well-drawn characters, some funny banter, and the pacing is perfect. Having said that, I thought the ending was done too quickly, but still, it made for an enjoyable and entertaining read. I hope we get to visit the Declan brothers and their ladies in the future series. Nicely done.
