I have read some reviews and got a little afraid of purchase it, but I went with my guts. And what a surprise, a pleasant one.
The book's paper is a typical "workbook" kind of paper, not Couché or any other more refined paper and the reason for that is very simple. It is a workbook, a book for you to follow the guidelines and then create your tiles. Learn, draw, erase (even though they say there isn't a mistake in Zentangle and you should continue, do it again, color if you want to and you will also have a plethora of shapes and forms, showing how they do Zentagle, teaching you to start doing your own thing.
I understand that a CZT wasn't happy for her art to be shown on this book, due to its "inferior quality" , but it is really NOT inferior, it is just different. Just like when you buy a book and a matching workbook. The workbook paper will be a more "write in" kind of paper, as you cannot write well on fancy paper.
It should be an honor to have a Zentangle art shown on this book.
5 Stars and no regrets whatsoever. It is a book anyone who wants to learn and practice Zentangle, will love it. I did.
