The Zombies, formed by keyboardist Rod Argent in the early sixties were part of the British Invasion which included such groups as The Beatles, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, etc. While The Zombie's were never big in America, their debut album did produce several well known hits in "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No", both of which were excellent pop/rock songs. The Zombies, like many other sixties British groups were heavily influenced by American Black music. Songs such as "Got My Mojo Working" and "Summertime" are several songs that show a definate black influence. The songs on The Zombies debut for the most part are typically Beatlesque sounding pop songs, but have a uniqueness of their own. The Zombie's scored another major hit in the late sixties with "Time Of The Season" and finally disbanded by the seventies when Rod Argent formed his own group simply titled "Argent". I might mention that this cd is in mono so those of you who want the stereo versions might want to check out the various imports available. For those music lovers that enjoy listening to the groups who made up the British Invasion this is a must have. Recommended!

2.0 out of 5 stars even for a non-remastered cd... April 24 2013

Some great original sixties classics! Record quality poor, even for a non-remastered cd transfer, it leaves much to be desired.
If you truly love these songs, find them on a different cd release. I wish I had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombies Rock! Dec 8 2008
By Elizabeth Peabody - Published on Amazon.com

This cd is awesome! The Zombies had a unique sound. The selection of songs are definitive Zombie tunes. 'Summertime' has a really jazzy, mellow feel. The organ dominates most of the songs to give it that Zombie edge. A must for any 60's fan. I play it over and over.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2 exceptional songs withstand the test of time Aug. 6 2007

"Tell Her No" and "She's Not There" are as good as I remembered them to be.:Jazzy melodies.Nice beat. "Leave Me Be" is reminiscent of The Cranberries. "Summertime" has some jazz undertones not fully developed. The rest of the songs are
not so memorable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Zombies 1st review Jan. 11 2008
By Anthony G. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
After finding an original copy of this LP on Parrot in the mid 70s, I found this record as compared to other beat groups of the day quite enjoyable. Overlooking the cover tunes (Got My Mojo.., You've Reall..., there are quite a few gems on this CD such as their single "She's Coming Home", "I Love You", "I Want You Back", "I Don't Want To Know" which all include the pop-rock-jazzy Zombies formula. Few bands upheld such a sound and made it work. For fans of the She's Not There and Tell Her No sound, you won't be disppointed with this CD.
