What types of letterboxes are there?
Fitted letter boxes are fitted directly into the door and are the most common type. These allow mail to be pushed into the interior of the house, keeping your post secure and out of the elements.
Wall mounted letter boxes, often mounted externally, are a viable option for those with doors that prohibit the use of a fitted letterbox. Most models come with a key lock to ensure you post is kept secure and are made of weatherproof materials to prevent you post from becoming damaged. It is recommended that you check to make sure you have the correct attachment system before attempting to fit your letterbox.
Post mounted boxes are generally used where there is significant distance between the access to the property and the front door of the property. These allow post to be delivered where there is no surface available to mount a wall mounted post box. Fitting a post mounted letter box requires that a post be sunk into the ground to secure the letter box and stop it toppling over.
