How safe are three wheeled scooters?
The added stability of a third wheel means that the child riding the scooter will have much less chance of injuring themselves than on a two-wheeled version. Still, it is important to maximize safety; investing in a helmet, along with elbow and knee pads, will give you and the child added peace of mind when out enjoying the ride!
Different models come with different features, though the more straightforward single footboard style may be a good place to start. However, the older and more confident the child riding, the more they will crave speed and tricks; a more inclined castor angle (the line from the base to the handlebars) may provide greater speed capability, but definitely makes it a little more dangerous.
