NOTE: This is not for and will not pick up digital TV in north america, move along if you are looking at this for that. This product is best suited to picking up random radio transmissions accross the radio spectrum with software defined radio programs.

Lots of fun, works great after a little bit of confusing setup (see that other product review for details on setting up) will not tune down to sub 5mhz signals or so but its pretty capable in picking up a whole range of radio signals to play with. I don't know if this is a hardware or antenna limitation. Works no problem on RPI 2 to use as a server back to your machine for processing, or local decoding too. Lots of guides online just take a lil bit of work to get up and rolling.

Works as advertised. Remote has no value if being used as a SDR. My daugher uses it with a Nexus 7 tablet to listen to FM audio for the hearing impaired. I have been able to compare the quality of the audio with a Williams Sound receiver. The purpose-built unit has much less noise and is more sensitive than the Software Defined Radio. I have not tried it with my Linux or Windows devices to see if the weakness is related to the software/Nexus platform or not. I have tried it with alternative antennas with some success as well. (Others have observed that antennas designed for the band one is targeting can make a big difference.) Overall, I'm quite happy since the price of a Williams Sound receiver is significantly more but there is a degree of getting what you pay for in terms of audio quality.

I bought this as an ADS-B receiver. Works well with Linux Mint 17.1, dump1090 and Virtual Radar Server, and it's able to track aircraft up to a hundred miles away with the antenna sitting on the bedroom window sill. Only issue was getting the antenna there, because the cable is quite short; I bought a USB extension cable so I could move the USB dongle a few feet from the server, and that solved the problem.

Also received FM radio well. I may get another one, just for that...

Good product, but the bottom of the antenna arrived damaged (repaired it with hot glue). It arrived FAST. (within 14 hours)

Works fine for local radio station. Not very sensitive, needs a better antenna. I have use the dongle for spectrum reading softwares. For that price I was expecting too much.

It gets the job done. You'll want to pick up some extra antenna gear for it, the port on the stick is a female, but the antenna base has a male thread making those wonderful old 73 MHz extendable antenna practically useless. And the supplied antenna barely fits the highest end phases this unit can hear, if you want to tune FM radio you have to keep a good hold of it, AM is untunable. Still, for this price, it's hard to beat. Great fun, awesome start to HAM.
