Why are so many people writing "interim" biographies of Trump? Presumably because Trump is a flamboyant case of truth being sometimes stranger than fiction and because there is a vast audience for whom his every move is of enormous interest. One hesitates to use the word biography to describe this book. It is more a roundup of what is known to date about the famous financier and playboy, culled from a variety of sources. The chances are that most readers already have seen or heard, somewhere and sometimes in spite of themselves, most of what Hurt has to report. Right now, Trump seems to be down. Will he remain there? A deliciously wicked take on casino/real-estate mogul Donald J. Trump. Drawing on a wealth of sources, Hurt (For All Mankind, 1988, etc.) offers an exhaustive, gossipy rundown on a golden boy of the so-called greed decade who lost his touch--and way--in the hard realities of the 1990's. Capitalizing on political contacts made by his father, who amassed a fortune building and managing apartment houses for working-class residents of N.Y.C.'s outer boroughs, the erstwhile Wunderkind made a flashy name for himself in Manhattan property development. Moving on to Atlantic City's glittery gambling dens, the cocksure Trump (who turns 47 this June) took a great fall when his faith in ever-rising asset prices proved unfounded. In the wake of an acrimonious divorce that ended a 13- year marriage to the Czech-born Ivana (inducing bankers to review Trump's balance sheet with greater care), the ambitious hustler's leveraged empire and its trophy holdings now languish in undeclared bankruptcy. While Hurt doesn't wholly dismiss the possibility of a comeback, he leaves little doubt that Trump is bucking tough odds. I read Trump's Art of the Deal. There was no "art" to it unless you count the "art" of arrogance and privilege. He walked away from all those "fabulous" deals by declaring bankruptcy. Since this sociopath was elected president, I sought to find out what my beloved America would face under his "Midas touch". I happened upon a squib of news recently about Trump's rage-filled public attack of "Lost Tycoon" author Harry Hurt's appearance on a golf course where Trump was at play. This guy might know something factual, I thought. So first, I researched Hurt. He was written for the NY Times and Newsweek, two publications that usually don't hire schmucks to write for them. Though "Lost Tycoon" was written 23 years ago, leopards don't change their spots and facts don't change either. As I read about the "real" Trump, the news broke of Trump's alleged Ritz-Carlton romp in Moscow several years ago. What Hurt wrote about Trump's behavior was clearly consistent with the allegations. Still, I counseled myself to seek facts. I'm satisfied that the man Hurt exposed is the president we are getting. Furthermore, I'm convinced he will bring Americans disaster upon disaster. What I learned from Hurt's investigation confirms the outrageousness Trump displayed during his campaign. To Trump, nothing and no one is more important than Donald J. Trump. That his children appear to be quite composed and successful is deceiving. Credit Ivana, formerly Mrs. Trump, and hired nannies, because daddy was seldom home. Now consider the power platform Trump has won through his unfathomable, life-long chicanery. He is now capable of anything. The millions who bought his "show" and voted him into office believed he would fight for them, the forgotten, the sick, the weak, the poor and jobless. His priority, however, he has made quite clear. The tax breaks will go to the wealthy; the rich will get richer...the poor? What? They can't take a joke?
The "real" Donald Trump can be found in Hurt's book. Get it.

Every copy of this book that I have seen includes a "Notice to the reader" as a pasted-in addendum to the front matter of the book, a "statement of Ivana Trump " intended to qualify certain statements made by Ivana in a deposition in which the former Mrs. Trump stated that she was raped by her husband.
In qualifying her testimony, Mrs Trump states the following, along with a statement. indicatïng that her statement can only be used in its entirety.

"I wish to say that on one occasion during 1989, Mr. Trump and I had marital relations in which he behaved very differently toward me than he had during our marriage. As a woman, I felt violated, as the love and tenderness, which he normally exhibited toward me, was absent. I referred to this as a "rape," but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense.
"Any contrary conclusion would be an incorrect and most unfortunate interpretation of my statement which I do not want to be interpreted in a speculative fashion and I do not want the press or media to misconstrue any of the facts set forth above. All I wish is for this matter to be put to rest.
This statement can only be released and used in its entirety.

Normally I would not read a book about Trump, but given his Republican nomination for president, I'm really glad I did. First, it makes for compelling reading. Although it is written in a bit of a breathless style (especially at the beginning), that style fits with the Donald's hyper, look-at-me-NOW, materialistic, tabloid life--which he cultivates. I didn’t want to put it down.
Second, this book gives a really valuable look at the Real Donald (it’s ironic that his Twitter tag is #RealDonaldTrump). It was written before Trump was a political figure, so the author had no political agenda. That's lack of political agenda gives it more credibility about the real DT who is revealed in this book.

Most humans have a public persona that is different than who we really are. Think of how messy Trump's public persona is, well beneath that facade really ain't pretty. There are sooo many juicy (and ultimately tragic) examples of Donald being an ugly human being. If you read this book, and still think he should be president, I have a very very overpriced real estate seminar to sell you. This book makes clear that Trump is too unstable to be president (Lost Tycoon recounts at least a couple times the Donald was feeling suicidal--an obviously very dangerous quality for a president.)

Hurt clearly outlines in blistering detail Donald's world view in '93 when the book was written. Fast forward 24 years to 2017. Nothing has changed although many had predicted or hoped Donald would become more presidential, more respectful, more considerate, more human. He is still very much the same, using everyone and everything to satisfy his insatiable need to be recognized, to be controversial, to be THE news. Sad, very sad. Bernie Sanders said it correctly: Donald is a pathological liar. At some point the Trump followers may come to recognize how duped they were. When they do will they express buyer's remorse? Read the book and compare it with what you see on the news every day. Harry Hunt might even think of writing a follow-up, perhaps calling it Lost Baboon.
