I have come to rely on Duncan's "Deep Dives" into clustering, HA and DRS since the vSphere 4.1 edition. IMO, they/it are by far the best, single, consolidated source for the level of detail available. I use them to increase my knowledge and study for VMware certification exams. I'm studying for VCAPs now and won't go sit for the the DCA until I know the material in this book. It's that good and that essential. I would go so far to say that until one understands this book and can readily implement, when applicable, the concepts contained within, one is not a vSphere expert. Again, IMO, this edition is essential reading for any VMware oriented professional.

This book is jam packed with information; concise, yet detailed enough and to the point, explanations to complex VMware configuration and internals.

Now, you may say, "I could have got the info in this book after reading 100 white papers and numerous blog posts anyway", but why do that, when you can get this book, which gives you all that info, saves you time, and just for the price of 3 cups of coffee!

I like the book.. It goes in depth about the clustering features. One thing I would like to see is better grammar. Yes you are right - grammar. There are lot of mistakes which makes understanding some topics a little confusing and challenging. Seems there was no one to review the work before publishing.

While I haven't finished the DRS section of this book, the HA portion did help me to understand the process that ESXi hosts go through when marking a VM as protected with HA, as well as the procedure that is followed when a host takes a dive.

Great bit of reference material, I plan to finish it and re-read it once or twice in preparation for the VCP exam.
