How to fit and get started with the Halti Front Control Harness
Step 1:
To select the right size Halti Front Control Harness for your dog, we always recommend measuring your dog’s chest and then referring to our sizing guides. More details about how to measure your dog can also be found on our sizing guides.
To fit the Halti Front Control Harness on your dog, undo the clip on the red chest strap and using a treat lure your dog’s head through the neck hole to begin with and place the red chest strap over your dog's head, ensuring that the control ring sits on top of your dog's back. Bring the other end of the strap underneath your dog's chest and connect to the clip.

Step 2
Use the 5 slides to adjust the fit of the harness. You should be able to get 1-2 fingers between the straps and your dog’s body and the front strap should sit halfway down the dog’s chest.
Step 3
Attach the safety link to the D ring on your dog's collar. The safety link should be able to reach the d-ring on your dog’s collar comfortably.

Step 4
We always recommend using a Halti double clip Training Lead for the best no-pull training experience. Attach the small clip on your lead to the front control ring on the harness and the larger clip to the back ring of the harness.

Step 5
Take your dog to a quiet place and whilst holding your lead in both hands practice walking around using the harness. You should only engage the harness by gently pulling on the lead connected the front control ring when your dog is actually pulling. Continue to reward your dog when they are walking without pulling.

Product description
The HALTI Harness is designed to stop dog’s pulling and to give maximum control. The ideal alternative to headcollars, it applies the same principle as the HALTI Headcollar but by steering the dog from his chest rather than by his head. It is comfortable for the dog to wear and ideally used with a double-ended lead to give maximum control. The HALTI Harness is a great alternative for dogs who do not like or cannot wear a headcollar. The patented front control system steers the dog from his chest and shoulders - and thus sets the direction in which he can move. Unlike other designs of anti-pull harnesses, the HALTI does not put painful pressure on the body and is always comfortable. Ideally used with a double-ended lead to give maximum control, the back ring above the shoulders acts as a brake while the front lead steers. Neoprene padding on the shoulder section ensures maximum comfort Massively adjustable, it is suitable for all sizes and breeds The HALTI Harness is brilliant for dogs with neck injuries It is easy to fit and highly adjustable Great for all dogs including puppies Maximum control when used with the HALTI Double-Ended Training Lead Available in 3 sizes to suit most breeds of dog and one color only, black /red.

Draakon is reactive and once bit through a Halti head collar, but since I started to use the head collar with the harness it dialed down his reactivity quite a bit:)
I am very satisfied 😌
If you get the proper size, it fits well and doesn't hurt your dog. It also doesn't slip off your dog.
Cons: the material does not have the black middle layer that our old Halti had which made the material stronger. I am not sure when this changed as our oldest Halti, I recently cut off the excess on the red part of the Halti. It was super hard to cut through. There is a black fabric or stitching in the centre of it to reinforce the material. The new Halti, which I adjusted for my other dog, I easily cut through and no black reenforcement fabric.
I would also like to note we purchased this as a replacement for another Halti. The clip that attaches to the dog collar wore down from my dog's activity/age and the bottom of it slips away from the clip part. Otherwise the harness was in perfect working order.
The fabric does stretch with time and age. Our oldest halti is 7 years old and the black portion can no longer be adjusted to keep it two finger snug. The one that finally 'broke' was 6 years old.
So for the price and the effectiveness of this harness, I still recommend it. Looks like a few people had some duds that made it through quality control or perhaps were incorrectly sized and adjusted for their dogs. We originally bought these harnesses to handle pulling prior to loose leash training. Now our dogs are trained, they no longer pull. We still use them as mentioned because in an off leash park, it allows us to quickly leash our dogs, if needed in an emergency. (coyotes, ice, aggressive dog/play, etc.)
UPDATE: Our oldest Halti finally gave on the clip that attaches to the collar, so we are on our fourth. Not bad as it lasted 7 years. The newest one is a lot skinnier that the original despite being the same size. It looks a lot less strong. We have been using it for about a month and I am not sure I like it as much - and my dog seems to distrust it (I think he is used to the smell of his old one). If it lasts another 7 years, I would be surprised. Still works the same but definitely seems to be made cheaper.
Hubby has gone on about what a delight it is now to walk Phoenix and today (February 20, 2017) I was able to have a very enjoyable walk with him too. We had tried several other harnesses, he either still pulled or squirmed his way out of the harness and into traffic. This is the only one that has the safety latch that hooks to his collar, which puts our mind at ease that if he were to squirm out of this harness, we would still have him leashed to his collar.
I wish I had bought this years ago when he was puppy but better late than never.
Very comfortable looking.
The medium is just to big for my 62 lb golden doodle so it's not as effective as it should be.
The only thing I had to cut off was a peice of plastic that was near his chest area, and due to pulling, cut into his skin due to pointy edges. Since I removed it, no more cuts.
I just received it !
However the item is so thin and weak looking that I just tossed it away. I'm too tired of waiting
and disappointed that the item is made of near paper thin 1/2 " nylon.
I tried it on my dog and it's like putting a thin ribbon on him, afraid it will "cut" into him.
Just plain flimsy. The medium size I returned it but at least it had some more body to it.
I certainly wouldn't recommend it. No more pulling??? Are you joking? I found it useless.
Sam
No pulling (AND no barking?!) and he tends to WANT to walk closer to me. I use this harness in conjunction with their training lead, which I can clip to my waist whenever I like (or have a few bags to carry).
If you are considering this, just trust me and get it. I wish I would have purchased one years ago.

Harnais Halti a changé notre vie.
