I bought a very firm mattress about a year ago as my pre-existing back issues began to get worse with previous 9 year old softer mattress with a memory foam euro top.
My wife never got used to the firmness of the new mattress and asked for a softer topper after staying at a hotel that used one where she slept much better. After much research on Amazon.ca, I decided to buy this one. Now my wife is always chilly and I am warm.
Delivery was pretty quick for coming from the U.S and it came in a box the size of a medium to large microwave. Inside was the actual manufacturer's box. The product was folded and rolled kept in place by industrial saran wrap/shipping wrap. After removing the wrap, I suggest you very carefully and slowly peel apart(unfold) the foam topper completely. I say slowly and carefully as some areas were stuck and felt it you forced those stuck areas without a little finesse, it would tear. Once unfolded, it was obviously slightly compressed in some areas due to the packing with the usual moderate memory foam smell. I laid it out in another room with the window open and door closed. When I checked on it about an hour later, the foam had completely expanded in those compressed areas.. The next day I put it on our Queen sized bed as the smell was not noticeable any longer. The topper fit edge to edge of the mattress perfectly with only the 90 degree corners not matching the slight round corners of the mattress. The fitted sheet or mattress cover, if you use one, easily folds the corners down as you make the bed.
I have found the topper only added a slight warmth, likely as my body is more encased now in this softer topper as compared to me lying on my very firm mattress without this topper.
I like how it's not too thick so my mattress cover and fitted sheet still fits.
When I felt this topper with my hand, I found the foam to be low density meaning it was very soft. I was worried it wouldn't provide any support and I thought my whole body would just bottom out on to my firm mattress thus not offering any softness. This did not occur. Once your body weight is distributed over the topper, only by buttocks and hips and shoulders for side sleepers sink completely with the topper supporting the curves. As a reference I am 200 pounds and my wife is 120 pounds. She loves it and so far my back pains from several spinal injuries have not re-surfaced.
