Tips for Sizing Your UPS

In order to have your UPS run properly, your UPS has to be large enough to support all of the equipment you plan to plug in
Find the capacity you need by calculating the load of your connected equipment. The load is the combined amount of power each of the devices use.
To find the load you need, make an equipment list, including the total watts each piece of equipment requires to run properly.
Add together all of the wattage needed for your connected equipment. The wattage for the UPS needs to be higher than the combined wattage of all of your connected equipment.

No wifi signal btw no idea why that option is there. This is my first real ups and it works great. The $80 price was fair, I had a couple power glitches during its use and It worked flawlessly. A necessity to protect valuable electronics. Can be used as a battery bank/reserve power to charge phones etc in a outage. Currently with my setup states it has 80 minutes reserve power on full charge. Very happy with this product. The only issue I have noticed is a very random issue with the monitoring software at computer system boot that seems to send a signal to the ups to shut off then back on almost like its rebooting the usb but it also interrupts the boot of the computer which is very bad for either hdd's of ssd's and causing data corruption. I resolved the issue by simply removing the monitoring software autorun from windows startup and also changing the service from automatic to manual is services.msc .

OK, I appear to be one of the early adopters for this product & so far so good.
I have the 450W 800VA model.
Power cord & plug: right angle plug with the prongs rotated to allow easy access to the 2nd outlet = good. Power cord is about 6 feet = good
Casing is some grade of ABS plastic, it feels & sounds kind of thin, but as I an mot intending this thing to be a foot rest or a doorstop that will get impacts I am not concerned. Plastic finish is pretty good.
The battery comes already connected to the internal power cords - which I did not expect, I was thinking it would ship like APC units do where you open up the battery compartment & connect it yourself, which is a safety in shipping thing, but it was not the case. In the 450W unit you get a 9Ah 12V SLA battery. It looks like a normal standard battery that I can replace at some point in the future when it quits.
Plenty of outlets on this thing, which is a pro & a con. Pro - there are lots of them, con, this makes them pretty close together & so if you have any slightly larger power bricks you are plugging in, you might be forced to use every 2nd outlet & reduce the number of effective outlets you get. This is a potential issue for some. I had enough outlets available for my needs, but I did have to alternate some of them & my power bricks are not that big (like the one I need for my Amazon Fire TV etc....)
The handbook that comes with it is OK, not great, it does fail completely, to mention that there is downloadable software that can be used to change settings on the device. Download it! The software kind of feels like the APC software, but it has a few more features that you can adjust, which is nice. I turned off the alarms as I didn't want them, it also shows you a battery health & anticipated life, given the draw on the unit at that time. The battery life will vary dramatically depending on what is plugged in. (Some people apparently cannot do simple maths and cannot understand that if this is a 450W unit, why a 1000W load is a problem.....)
One thing that might be annoying & it might just be my unit, when I plugged it in, I get a faint, but audible transformer buzz from it. It is irritating, but in my application I am putting the unit in a location away from where I would be normally sitting so it is not a concern, however if this is plugged in next to your workspace, the buzz might get on your nerves. Again, this might be a one off, but I noticed it immediately.
Overall, so far it is looking like a good value for the money if you make sure to load it within it's capacity rating.
One thing I have not yet found out is if it will auto restart after a power outage & full battery depletion, as I want it for a router & modem and it would be a pain if it does not auto restart. I might have to try to drain it fully by some experimenting & then re-apply power & see what happens (when I get a few hours to waste...)

A significant need for me with a UPS is the ability to restart itself after a power failure & battery depletion, which no one could answer me on this device. Today I learned that it does NOT auto restart after power depletion. We had a multi hour long brownout today, during which the UPS did perform flawlessly, for the duration of it's capacity, keeping my application alive for a nice long time. It did perform as intended and took over power supply when the input voltage dropped below a certain threshold (settable in the software). However, after the full line voltage came back and the battery was depleted & had shut the unit off, it did not restart. I had to manually press the button to restart it. This is a failure to me as I need the auto restart feature. My APC unit elsewhere did everything as it should have done & auto restarted itself, so as a consequence, I am ordering a new APC unit right after I type this, to replace this Amazon UPS.

This is a dealbreaker for me, it may not be for you, your application is yours alone, as it mine & mine needed something different. I went from 5 to 3 based upon this, but this unit is a really rock solid 3 star unit for all its other functions, so if you do not need an auto restart, I still say buy this device. If you do need auto restart, don't buy it.

I am actually pretty sad to say this, the unit had so much promise for me.

No auto-restart after battery depletion.

This unit does NOT automatically restart after a power outage which drains the battery. I was using this UPS to protect my security system NVR and modem during power outages. After a power outage which drains the battery (which is less than 1 hour for this 800VA UPS), the UPS requires a person to physically press the power button on the UPS, in order to restore power to the protected plugs. In other words, after an extended power outage, this unit turns off and stays off, after the line power is restored.

Update Aug 2020: The original battery only lasted 13 months. Worse yet, there is no indication it won't work when needed. For starters, the Mac software you download from Amazon is the old version (1.09) and it will just tell you "lost communication." If you have High Sierra (macOS 10.13 or higher), you have to go to the CyberPower web site to download PowerPanel 1.10. Once you've done that, the software and the LED light on the UPS indicate everything is normal, the load is only about 60%, and I should have a runtime of about 10 minutes. Cool. Until you try the Battery Test. Then the computer shuts off entirely and the UPS just emits a nonstop beep. Once the battery dies (it will), Amazon gives no help in telling you how to replace it (instruction manual basically says you can't). What you need is a 12V 9amp SLA battery with the F2 terminals. I found one on an auction site for $20. After installation, the UPS is bac to normal.

Original 5-star review: Bought this before there were any reviews so it was a bit of a gamble. Better than expected. Nice that some of the sockets are spaced farther apart to accommodate wall warts. It gives you 10 minutes of battery power during an outage, which should be enough to close files. The software was an unexpected bonus. I comes with a USB cord to plug into your computer. Download the free program and it will monitor battery condition, allow you to do a test, and calculate energy consumption and carbon footprint. As for why anyone would think they could run a 1000W computer system off a 450W battery...that's just dumb.

I purchased 2 of these for my main Windows PC and a Linux server at home. Amazon lists battery monitoring software links for Windows and Mac but nothing for Linux. After a looking at the the Windows software it seems this is a CyberPower UPS re-branded as an Amazon Basics UPS. The CyberPower "PowerPanel® Personal" software works with this and they have a Linux version of it that I have working with this UPS. See Screenshot. Not sure if you can post links in reviews so just go to CyberPower's website and search for "PowerPanel Personal". I'm sure this is 100% NOT supported by Amazon use it at your own risk. Hopefully this will be helpful for any Linux users out there.

A Disappointing UPS But Excellent Amazon Support

This AmazonBasics UPS worked just fine for keeping my desk top computer, monitor, modem and speakers on line during several power outages within the first 3 weeks after I installed it. Then one day, it tripped off line on several occasions for at least 5 seconds, causing my computer to crash each time. I contacted Amazon and they agreed to refund my purchase. I was very pleased with Amazon's support, but was disappointed with the product. Since that time, I bought an APC model UPS from Amazon as a replacement, and so far it has worked flawlessly, and I might add, operates quieter than the defective AmazonBasics unit.
