The Reckoning: How the Democrats and the Left Betrayed Women and Girls Paperback – Nov. 9 2023

“This is a very good book and I swear I'm not just saying that because I'm quoted in it.” — J.K. Rowling
In The Reckoning, Kara Dansky, a radical feminist and lifelong Democrat, exposes the invasion by men into female-only spaces, the harming of children, and the silencing, punishment, cancellation and even violence against women who speak out. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party, which claims to represent the interests of women, ignores the problem, while its allies in the organized Left and mainstream media paint all opposition to the “trans” agenda as “right wing.” But radical feminists are not “right wing.” They are leftists who know that sex is real and are not afraid to demand women’s hard-won rights to safe spaces and privacy.
The Democrat-Left wing establishment knows all the ways in which “gender identity” harms women and girls—and plenty of boys. Yet they are sacrificing women and children to a vicious profit-driven industry that allows men to invade women’s spaces and sports, denies that sex is real, and slices up children’s bodies.
Now the Democrats are facing a reckoning. Detransitioners are starting to speak out, clinicians are blowing the whistle, and women and girls, including many lesbians, have had it. Even now, the tide of common sense and decency is starting to turn in other countries that have banned harmful medical and surgical procedures for underage children and a handful of Democrats are bucking the trend at the state level. Elected Democrats will later claim they didn’t know, that they couldn’t have known, that the science has changed. But they knew. They have known all along. This book provides the evidence.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 5, 2025Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseKara Dansky is a modern day heroine. I am deeply grateful to her for her work standing up for the rights of women and girls. She has really tried to help the Democrats come to sanity on the issue of women's rights in this modern tech (and porn) saturated world. We, and our granddaughters, all owe her the deepest respect and appreciation. With women like her doing work like this, we will fight until we regain our rights. It's too bad the Dems are still not listening. Incredible!

G. M. McCalebReviewed in the United States on December 7, 20235.0 out of 5 stars The reckoning relentlessly reveals gender ideology for what it is: gaslighting run amok
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThe Reckoning is a challenging read, and here's why: line by line and page by page, it relates how gender identity ideology systematically erases women as a coherent, protectable class under the law--in short wreaking havoc on women's rights in education, the workplace, their once-private refuges like locker rooms and restrooms, and even into their minds as gender identity advocates demand absolute belief and affirmation of their confused "identities" by all others. The challenge is knowing that despite such solid, objective evidence of gender identity's false reality and shoddy science, so many in our culture prefer to reject material reality and endorse the ideology--the the injury of every woman's liberty. And for anyone who believes in this nation and its founding on "self-evident rights," it is a terrifying read, indeed. If sex--being male or female--is not "self-evident," then what is?
It is a challenging read for a second reason--because it makes you realize that Kara is among the few willing to pierce our polarized politics and make common cause with others despite profound disagreements with them on other crucial social issues. I'm among those from the "right" who have worked with Kara to counter gender identity ideology because of its impacts on free speech and privacy, and it grieves me that so many within her own party slather "phobic" labels and worse on her. Why has someone who opposes her on so many points come to appreciate her trenchant analyses and candor? I think the answer is that she engages fellow travelers with respect and has a knack for taking a step back to assess things and craft a message that resonates with others. When so many others from the left seem to think that ad hominem attacks are the ne plus ultra of discussion, Kara is a reasoned, engaged, caring advocate for her views. The Reckoning reflects that approach, and if anything, is too easy on the Republicans who have foolishly bought into gender identity ideology.
The Reckoning presents a well-documented, thorough, concise, and timely narrative of real-world conflict between gender identity ideology and women. It distills a phenomenal amount of information into a cogent, readable format and provides the reader with a working knowledge of gender identity ideology's impacts on every facet of life. Is it a "must read"? I'd say absolutely yes--because gender ideology is a totalitarian movement. If George Orwell were writing 1984 today, O'Brien would ask Mr. Smith, "How many genders?" instead of "How many fingers?" If we are to resist the demands of the gendered left, we need the knowledge that Kara so aptly presents to effectively defend material reality from gender dogma.
LMBVReviewed in the United States on September 11, 20245.0 out of 5 stars must read for anyone who cares about women's rights
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseVery good book, covers all the issues related to gender identity policies very comprehensively. Gives great details on policies and lawsuits. Dansky writes in a compelling and engaging way, especially when she gets into the meat of history/policy/law. A must read for any voting American (especially liberals) who care about women, free speech, medical ethics and the protection of vulnerable people. I wish it had references, but you can find any of it in the public domain online.
