3.0 out of 5 stars Check receptacles where you will be going first, Sept. 18 2016
Check receptacles. While I have not tried this and can't review it on terms of usage, I just want to caution people to check receptacles where they will be going. Some in Europe are recessed and these larger multi-adapters won't fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love this pot, Sept. 8 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I do not have enough praise for this pot. I was initially concerned with the colour - worried that it would stain. I use this pot for everything. I use it for roasting chickens in the oven, I've used it for borscht, curry and various stews and it has not stained at all. You do have to be careful and not use metal utensils and have to be careful about how you place it in the dishwasher (if your dishwasher prongs are scratchy, they can damage the finish), but otherwise this is fully safe in the dishwasher (both pot and lid). It is completely non-stick. I've burned things in it and it comes clean. It takes a tiny bit longer to heat up at the start of cooking, but that hasn't been a problem. Worth every penny of the $120 it's listed for here. I liked it so much that I also ordered the fry pan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, but difficult story to read, Sept. 8 2016
This was a wonderful book. The story of a small child being kidnapped and abandoned in the forest. Hardship follows hardship. After five years of living with the monkeys Marina is discovered by hunters who trade her to a brothel owner for a parrot. She endures beating and abuse, but when the men at the brothel start to eye her differently, she escapes. After living on the street, she ends up in the home of a couple who end up being criminals and the beatings and abuse continue. Escaping again, she is taken to a convent, where she is safe, but unfulfilled. Finally, she escapes yet again and at about age 15 ends up in a good home. Because she was so young in the jungle, the names of things that she encountered there had to be interpreted by her daughter with simple descriptions. The daughter spent hours asking her Mom for details and then together with a ghostwriter the story was written. People that complain about the poor writing, don't seem to understand that Marina had no human language until she was a young teen and still struggles with it to this day. I think the writing is keeping in tune with the heart of the story - basically a toddler tryng to survive in the jungle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too short, June 6 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This checkbook cover is fine. My only complaints are that the cover is just a smidge short. If the cheques are in the slot in the cover, they stick out about half an inch. Also becasue of that, the checkbook register doesn't fit into the slot for it and has to sit loose inside the cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful pan, June 6 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Love this fry pan. Totally non-stick. And in fact, if I had any complaints about it, it would be that if you get a bit exhuberant about tossing your food around in this, it's likely to fly out of the pan. extremely easy to clean. Most cleanups done with a rinse of soapy water and dry with paper towel, though it does wash in the dishwasher just fine. I only wish it had a lid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable, May 18 2016

Love these sandals. I was familiar with the Ahnu brand , having a pair of hiker/runners from Ahnu. I took a chance on ordering these after a local store did not have them in stock. They fit as expected and the foot bed was very comfy. I have arthritis in my feet and knees and was able to wear these first time with absolutely no breaking in and no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gritty and raw, May 18 2016
This review is from: Shantaram: A Novel (Paperback)
This "novel" is gritty and raw. The author claims it's a novel, but I think in fact, much of the book is a parallel to his own life in the slums of Bombay. This is not a pretty book, nor is it a feel good book. But it will take you deep into the depths of the slums, and deep into the depths of a soul that has seen hell and come back. Yet, there are redeeming features in both those slums and that soul. The book is hefty at 944 pages but I read it in a single day because I could not put it down. I already have the sequel, equally as lengthy, on order. A third book in the series is promised to be a prequel.

3.0 out of 5 stars good book but wheat free labels are wrong, May 11 2016
Recipes look good, and there are many I want to try. Just one comment. The author adds comments throughout on some of the recipes being wheat free, gluten free and vegan. However, she is not really aware of what these terms mean. Many recipes are labelled as wheat free even though they contain semolina or in one case bread crumbs, both of which are either wheat or contain wheat. People with conditions that require these limitations will need to use their own judgment.

This is a delightful Christmas Album. The performances are light and bouncy, typical of CB. I will be listening to this one a lot. There are 18 tracks for a total of just over 51 minutes of play time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Get one of the other versions, Jan. 18 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My recommend is that you skip this Annotated version and get the most recent non-annotated version. The annotations are confusing and break up the original text (especially in the first four sections) and aren't all that useful. the annotator would have been better off just to write a whole new book if he so chose. I found myself skipping the annotations.
