4.0 out of 5 stars Has it's uses, not for everyone., Sept. 21 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pretty good device, depending on the type of player you are and what level you are at.

First thoughts are as follows: Once you get the hang of it, the system is fairly simple. The Plus itself looks nice, and is light. On the down side it is powered by a non-rechargeable battery, and the strap is not overly appealing. Use on Phone battery is high, unless you put it in sleep mode, so be sure to do that. Depending on your income, $40 is not overly expensive, it is certainly not worth anything more. DO NOT PAY ANY OF THE $100-$200 CRAZY PRICES PEOPLE ARE CHARGING!!!

So here is how it works:

If you encounter a Pokemon you have caught, the Plus pulses Green, if you encounter one you don't have it pulses Yellow. Once you press the button it throws a ball (only the regular one, and as far as I can tell only 1 ball). If it catches the Pokemon, it pulses multicolor or if it fails red. Now, it's catch rate is not very good. Over about a 3 hour period of testing I encountered 30 Pokemon, and it only captured 10. (I am a level 26 player, so I do encounter Pokemon of higher CP - so lower level players might have a better catch rate.) I don't believe it allows for multiple throws, as the Pokemons appear to run away after one press. If you are buying this device to give you an edge on catching Pokemon, without using your phone, this is not the device for you. If you are a high-level player and want to use the device to potentially catch a few Pokemon, while keeping your phone out of sight - I recommend this device. Additionally for any level if you simply want to use the device to alert you to old or new Pokemon, at which point you retrieve your phone and throw for yourself - again I recommend this to you.

Now when it comes to Pokestops, is actually where this devices shines. As you walk, if you encounter one it pulses blue, it has different pulse for having collected or if your bag is full. Regardless of whether your bag is full you still collect your points. Imagine if you will you sit through a 2 hr long movie at the theatre, with a Pokestop in range. With Pokestops refreshing at about every 5 min, you stand to gain 1,200XP plus whatever items you gain (at the least 3 items X 24 spins = 72 items). Frankly you could sit through an entire work day if you have a stop in range and press the button a 100+ times (5,000XP). So, if you would like to collect items and points in a discreet matter - again I recommend.

The tracking of distance is a little above my technological understanding, so I will let other reviewers get into that. My first thought is that the Plus does not track distance, it is your phone doing this, so it should not give much advantage. But on the other hand, since you will have your phone running the game in the background you are likely to gain more distance simply because you have it running constantly - but you could do this with or without the device.

How could this device been improved? I would like to see a way of personalizing how many, and what type of balls you throw. For example being able to customize your Plus to throw a Great ball for any Pokemon with a CP over 700. Or if you are looking to collect a certain Pokemon, you could customize to throw a Raspberry and Ultra for any Charmeleon. Likewise you could set a min/max saying to throw no more than 3 balls at Pidgey but throw 20 at a Snorlax. Having said all that I don't know if it is something that is technologically possible, but if it was, would be a good improvement.

All in all a good device, but you must understand what you are buying to get enjoyment out of it.

TL:DR The Plus is not great at catching, but good at alerting you of Pokemon. It's good for collecting you items, and points from Pokestops. Your Phone itself tracks distance, unsure if device gives you any edge. Customization of what type of ball, how many, etc could drastically improve play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome set, awesome price., April 18 2016
This is a great set, especially for the price. It is obviously popular as it is often sold out, be patient and buy it when it is under $30. No it's not exceptionally accurate to the film, but its still fun, and does the job. The minifigs are lovely, and the carbonite Han is awesome! The turning pieces add some cool playability. Lots of little pieces in this set, so be aware of that for small children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute set, love it!, April 16 2016
I love this cute little set, it looks amazing, and has really awesome special pieces (frog, frying pan, coffee cup, etc). There are quite a few small pieces in this set, so while it says it's 350 pieces, be aware that at least 150 of those are 1x1 bricks and circles. Not that I'm complaining, just an FYI. Because of all those smaller pieces it might be a little tricky for very young builders, but isn't overly complicated or long build.

I'm really glad I made this purchase and will display it happily. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful set! Very happy., April 10 2016
A truly wonderful set, that does very good justice to the movie, in regards to detail. Rey's speeder is spot on, and has some fun manoeuvrability! The addition of the thug is nice, and gives you yet another minifig for your collection. Excellent price point at $25! Might require some adult assistance for children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this set., April 10 2016
This is a great set! Purchased for myself (adult), to add to my collection. A fun build that took around 1.5 hrs, could do it quicker, but was watching a movie too. I love all the details, the fun addition of a dog, and the realism of the vehicles. This is an excellent set at a great price around $25.

Awesome little set, at a great price. If you like to collect animal minifigs this is a good set to pick up. The octopus is great, and so is the explorer and craft. Only complaint, and it is a small one, is that if you actually leave the diamond in the octopus' tentacles as shown, it does not actually snap in, and will for sure fall out.
