5.0 out of 5 stars Jack's on a roll, Nov. 12 2003

'Elephant' is the second exellent White Stripes album in a row. While it's not quite the equal of 'White Blood Cells,' it does provide another collection of great songs. The stance and sound on this album is slightly different than on the last, but not so much that you wouldn't recognize it. There are no standout, amazing songs such as Fell in Love With a Girl or Hotel Yorba, but the more cohesive sound of 'Elephant' makes up for that. There are no weak songs here, and Ball and a Biscuit is as dirty as white blues gets. This could be the record of the year in 2003.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic of the genre, Nov. 9 2003

Southern rock hasn't sounded this good since the days of Lynryd Skynryd. These alt-country boys have delivered a narrative on the southern way of life that is at once proud, while at the same time recognizing its flaws. 'Marry Me' is a better Stones song than anything Mick and Keith have written in over twenty years, and 'Outfit' is as good a song as you'll hear anywhere.
