3.0 out of 5 stars THE FULL SCREEN EDITION, Oct. 16 2002
The disc is loaded with commentary extras and a featurette as well. Worth it for those even if the film is not all that great

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT HIGH ON MY LIST, Sept. 26 2002
I think it is one of the weaker of the WWII films. It does, however, portray an important incident in the defeat of Germany and is valuable from an historical point of view.
My main objection is in the depiction of the American soldiers. They sem to be a surly lot, bickering and throwing digs at each other; but who knows, oerhaps that was the case. The Germans seemed to be a better organized group even though they lost the battle.
But is it nowhere near s bad as "The Battle of the Bulge." That bummer rates a minus five stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, Sept. 24 2002
I thought it to be the best of thr Embrace the Darkness series although I kbow there are many who will disagree with me.
Brooke Laralee is quite a number and it's too bad she's not in any other films. Here she plays a kind of super vampire who can go out in the sun and is extraordinarily powerful

2.0 out of 5 stars DO ALL MARINES HAVE BLUE EYES?, Sept. 10 2002
Overwrought dramatization of the Guadalcanal campaign. The marines all look like actors right out of acting school. There is a droning over voice saying anti war platitudes. Of course, all the women at home are beautiful with not a plump or pimply one among them.
Sean Penn is at his worst here.
However, there are some well done battle scenes.

4.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, Aug. 20 2002
This review is from: Bully (Widescreen) [Import] (DVD)
The DVD has cast interviews on it but no director's commentary. That's good since Mr. Clark's commentary track on "Another Day In Paradise" was one of the very worst I have ever heard.

4.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT DOCUDRAMA, Aug. 20 2002
This review is from: Hiroshima [Import] (DVD)
A fine film in documentary style about the Manhattan Project and the building of the fist three atomic bombs
The one flaw I noticed was the casting of the actor to play the role of General George C. Marshall who was Chief of Staff at the time and later became the Secretary of State Marshall was tall and lean with an imposing stature. The actor here was short and stout and about as imposing as Bud Abbot. The casting director should have done his homework better.

5.0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN THELMA AND LOUISE, May 24 2002
This film predated Thelma and Louise by a few years and surely served as a model for that film without being credited as such.
It received justly high reviews by prominent crtics.e.g, Roger Ebert. Elizabeth Kaitin, who went on to become a soft core staple, does an excellent job. No eplicit sex here

3.0 out of 5 stars STRANGE DVD, April 25 2002
The edition I rented from my local video store is not widescreened; I don't know why a full screen edition was ever produced since usually wqhen you get widescreen it is choice you can make on the DVD. It did have DTS though even though that featre is advertised as being on the widescreen edition.

2.0 out of 5 stars ITS NOVEL MESSAGE: WAR IS HELL, April 18 2002
In this turkey, the wives at home are always beautiful and never fat and pimply.
The soldiers are so morose that it's surprising that the Guadalcanal campaign was won.
There is a droning over voice telling us how terrible things are.
Give me break.
The battles sequences, however, are well done.

2.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS SCARY?, April 18 2002
This review is from: Peeping Tom (Widescreen) (DVD)
I bought this because of all of the favorable reviews saying what a classic horror film this was supposed to be.
I found it dull, even boring. The Carl Boehm character was so listless that I could hardly believe he was a killer. The picture just seemed to drag for me.
The DVD does have some nice features though even if the aspect ratio is faulty..
