5.0 out of 5 stars Angellus Returns, Aug. 22 2003
Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is back for her junior year at Sunnydale High along with her friends Willow (Alyson Hannigan), Xander (Nicholas Brendan), Giles (Anthony Stewart Head), and Angel (David Borneaz). But this year, she must face evil in the form of Angellus, the demonic version of Angel, who has teamed up with Spike (James Marsters) and the crazed Drusila (Juliet Landau), who plan to do whatever it takes to destroy the world. Angel's curse was broken when he and Buffy made love, thereby making Angel happy, which breaks his curse. In this season, we learn of the secrets of Giles's past, the truth about Willow's new boyfriend Oz (Seth Green), Willow's secret powers, and the true power of Angellus. This is a great season because of the powerful story arc of the trio of vampires and their relationship with Buffy, but it also has great individual episodes such as "Halloween" and "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered". Creator Joss Whedon once again proves his powerful writing ability and the actors do a great job in all of their roles. This is a box set to die for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome To Sunnydale, Aug. 22 2003
Sunnydale, California; the home of vampires, witches, and demons. This town is built upon the Hellmouth; a creature/portal that demonic forces tend to gravitate towards. The citizens are at the mercy of the dark forces... until the Slayer arrives. Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is a vampire slayer- a single girl who has the strength and agility of vampires. She kills them and other unholy creatures of the night while trying to have a normal life by day. After being kicked out of her school in L.A., she and her single mom move here where Buffy meets Giles (Anthony Stuart Head), her watcher, and her two new friends, Xander (Nicholas Brendan) and Willow (Alyson Hannigan). She also meets Angel (David Borneaz) a vampire with a soul. Xander and Willow soon learn of her powers and decide to help her with her slaying. Througout their sophomore year at Sunnydale High, the group fights vampires, a witch, a demon on the internet, their own nightmares, and the Master, the vampire king who is trapped underground. Creator Joss Whedon did an excellent job bringing these characters to life. They are fun to watch and relate to (except for the slaying part). Buffy's problems include not only slaying but also the trials of growing up. This classic show will have you hooked.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prepare for Reviewination, July 25 2003
Don't you hate sequels that are just clones of the original movies with ten times the action and one one hundredth the plot? Well, then you'll be happy to hear that American Pie 2 isn't one of those movies. The plot, which doesn't play a significant part in either, is different: the four friends, back from their first year of college, have decided to rent a lake house on Lake Michigan and throw the biggest and best party that the town has ever seen. Also, Jim (Jason Biggs) is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) the hot Czech girl that he almost scored with the previous year, and he is taking lessons on how to please girls from Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), his prom date. During these sequences, we, the audience, begin to realize that Jim and Michelle are meant to be, and part of the fun is watching how oblivious they are to it. But the best part is, the entire cast is back, although, there is a shift in importance of characters. The four main guys don't change much, but Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) does get a little weirder. Stifler (Seann William Scott) becomes a bigger character in this one, though. He still isn't part of the group, but he is in more scenes and he's in on the deal this time. The girls are a whole different story. In the first movie, they were given significant screentime and they appeared in scenes by themselves. Now, the only girl who you can say has "significant" screentime is Michelle, the girl (of the five main ones) who had the smallest role in the first one. Also, there is only one big scene with only girls, and it is with Vicky and Jessica (Tara Reid and Natasha Lyonne). Michelle is by herself for a few moments at the end, but then Jim arrives to whisk her away. All in all, this movie is hilarious, just as good, if not better than, the first. As I said, not too much story, but (1) there is more plot in this movie than in most other teen movies combined, and (2) that isn't what fans are looking for in an American Pie movie. Enjoy, and prepare for Shermination.

4.0 out of 5 stars As "Wholesome" As Apple Pie, July 23 2003
Many of the teen comedy movies that we are presented with today are raunchy spoofs of other movies or genres, such as the Scary Movie series and Not Another Teen Movie. This is one of the factors that sets American Pie above the others; it is a (somewhat) original idea about 4 friends who vow to lose their virginity by grauduation, but they have a problem: they don't know how to treat girls. The each have their own path that eventually leads them to the Prom, with or without a date. This a VERY funny movie. Many of the jokes are gross-out gags, but the beauty of it is that many of them are brand new (beer anyone?), and the ways the quartet go about wooing their prospects are great. Also, the girls are given substancial, if not equal, screentime as their male counterparts, so we can get to know them as well as our heroes. Finally, I would like to share some trivia that I just became aware of. When Alyson Hannigan was first called in to do this movie, the filmmakers wanted her to play Heather, but she preferred the character Michelle. If she had played Heather, there would have been parallels to her character Willow on the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 1. She would date a guy named Oz. 2. She would sing a song called "Do You Believe In Magic?" (Willow was a witch.) 3. Oz finishes a song saying "Scooby bop". Buffy's gang of friends is often referred to as the "Scooby Gang". If you haven't yet seen this movie, get to your nearest video store and see it now, because, this one time, at band camp...

4.0 out of 5 stars He's Back... For the First Time, July 5 2003
In 1984, a young woman's life is about to change in an unbelievable way. Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) is a girl trying to make it in the world when all of the sudden, a man and a machine appear in her life, one trying to kill her, and one who will do anything to protect her. Kyle Reesce (Micheal Bein) is a soldier sent back through time by Connor's unborn son John who's mission is to stop a T-800 series Terminator (Arnold Can't-Spell-His-Last-Name Schwarzzenegar) from killing her, thus killing John. John is the leader of the human resistance against an army of hostile machines that have nearly destroyed the human race. The Terminator is a state-of-the-art machine with living human tissue surrounding a metal endoskeleton that feels no pain, no pity, and will never stop until Connor is dead or it is destroyed. For such a low budget, this movie is very well done. The story is very well-written, the actors are great, especially Arnold, and for the money they had, the special effects aren't too shabby. In fact, this movie was so well-received that it granted its sequels the two highest budgets in film history. This is a classic sci-fi movie that won't disappoint. Oh, speaking of classic, look for all of the old 80's fashions, just for fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Following Is A Review of One of the Greatest Shows Ever, Jan. 3 2003
This review is from: 24: Season One [Import] (DVD)
12:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m. on one of the longest days of all times. Jack Bauer must save a presidential candidate as well as himself and his own family, and he must uncover the mole working in his own organization. This is probably the greatest drama TV show ever. From the first hour to the last minute, you will be hooked, and you will never want to stop watching. There is a new twist every hour that will hook you. The actors are great, and the characters are developped extremely well. Trust me, you will never have a better (or worse, if you are a character in the show) day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far Superior To Episode 1, Oct. 20 2002
To start off, let me say that I liked Episode 1, just not as much as any movie from the first trilogy. However, Attack of the Clones is equal to 4, 5, and 6. It is a thrill-a-minute adventure with two seperate stories (like Empire Strikes Back)that eventually come together. And, for the first time, we see the Jedi doing what they've only been described to do, or in small 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 fights: a giant Jedi battle full of glowing lightsabers! And, we finally find out how Yoda got his status as the greatest Jedi ever. I still remember the first time I saw this, some kid yelled out "Kick his [butt], Yoda", right before he drew his lightsaber. Obi-Wan's detective story is very cool, and the planet Kamino is amazingly beautiful in a strange sort of way. Anakin and Padmé's love story is a little flawed, but that's okay. And, as usual, we have R2-D2 and C-3PO doing what they do best: acting silly. Finally, there are many references to "A New Hope", "Empire Strikes Back", and "Return of the Jedi", which give us explanations as to why some things are the way the are. If you like Star Wars, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. Even if you don't, you may still be intrigued.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love Goolllldddd(member)!, Oct. 20 2002
YEAH BABY!!!! Austin Powers is back, and as funny as ever. This movie features non-stop laughs that will have you rolling on the floor. I swear, what they said is right about how it has more laughs in one minute than some whole films (Zoolander!). Okay, I'll admit that the story is pretty nonexistant (there is some nonsense about a satellite and a meteor), but we don't go to Austin Powers movies for the plot, we go for the jokes, and this one has some killers. I especially enjoyed the opening credits scene with all the celebrity cameos. Dr. Evil (my hero) is funnier than ever, though its Mini-Me who really steals the show. Fat Bastard, while crude and gross, has his share of laughs. But we can't forget Austin himself, now with his father Nigel. Go see this movie if you want to laugh without having to use your brain for an hour and a half. You'll love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Epic Begins, July 23 2002
This movie is beyond words! The acting is great, the locales are beautiful, and the story is epic! This is part one of three movies which make up one grand story about a small creature who rises above corruption to help destroy an artifact that will give its user absolute power... or so they think. The One Ring of Power gives power to its wearer, but... This was a great movie, and its only flaw, if it has one, is that it's very long. Oh well, with a movie as good as this, it doesn't seem that bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Interim of V and VI, May 13 2002
Have you ever wondered what happened while Han Solo was frozen, and his friends were searching for him? If so, you've come to the right place. Many people would at first glance dismiss this book as a ripoff, or just another part of a stupid franchise, but this really is a great book. It tells the story of Dash Rendar, a man who looks like, has a similar ship as, and comes from the same planet as Han Solo. He is commisioned by Leia to watch Luke Skywalker's back, because he is a hunted man. As you know, Darth Vader wants him alive, but another man, Prince Xixor, wants him dead. Xixor is the head of an underground crime sydicate called Black Sun, and nothing would please him more than to see Vader fail. He believes that if Vader slips up, Emporor Palpatine will hire him to be his right-hand-man. The story follows the lines of Luke and Dash, Leia, Xixor, and Vader as they all try to accomplish their seperate goals. If you want a great read, try this book. It won't disappoint you, especially since there is no Jar Jar Binks.
