5.0 out of 5 stars A Charming Book, Sept. 9 2009
This review is from: The Dot (Hardcover)
A simple little book with a big message. I used this book with eight multi-age groups of children today as they arrived at my classroom for a short art lesson. It raised smiles and inspired confidence and every single student enthusiastically launched into painting their own dot pictures. I think everyone, adults as well as children, can identify with the little girl in this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grade 3 Teacher, April 26 2009
This review is from: Diary of a Fly (Hardcover)
I bought this book to complete the set of the three Diaries of Worm, Spider and Fly, and it is my favourite of the three. My grade three class loved it and laughed out loud at the comical illustrations and especially at the problems encountered by fly's babysitter when faced with 327 energetic young flies to keep in line. I use these books by Doreen Cronin for Science as they are filled with interesting facts as well as endearing humour. My students have been writing their own "Diaries" complete with illustrations and hand-drawn and coloured "photographs" on the end papers. The wonderful illustrations by Harry Bliss are so detailed and comical, and they really appeal to children in a big way. It has given us a very rich literature-based science unit and has completely engaged the children. Diary Of A Worm Diary Of A Spider
