When I read the first Hell Holes novel (What Lurks Below), I was uncertain as to whether or not I would post a review. The story was certainly interesting and fast-paced. Lots of authentic-sounding scientific terminology when appropriate, and not used to “impress” the lay reader. The question on my mind was,”This sounds great, but will the follow-up be satisfying and revealing of plot details hinted at in the first one, or will it fizzle?” I decided to purchase and read Hell Holes #2 (Demons on the Dalton), and it took the established plot details, picked up the pace, and was quite addictive as reading material. The ‘Magic versus Science” elements were very well done. So, a book well worth the cost, and the bonus of a follow-up maybe even better than this one.
