Kindle for Windows 8 is Registered to the Wrong Account

Deregister the Kindle for Windows 8 reading app from your Amazon account if it is registered to the wrong account or if you no longer want to use it to purchase books.

If you are using Kindle for Windows 8, we recommend you to upgrade from Kindle for Windows 8 to Kindle for PC for the best reading experience and latest features.


Deregister Kindle for Windows 8

Deregister the Kindle for Windows 8 reading app from your Amazon account if it is registered to the wrong account or if you no longer want to use it to purchase books.

To deregister your Kindle for Windows 8 reading app, your Windows 8 device must be connected to the Internet.

If your Kindle app is registered to the wrong account, you will need to sign out to deregister the app, and then register it to your account.

  1. Swipe in from the right side of the screen to open the Charms bar, and then select the Settings image for settings icon 
			 icon.
  2. Select Sign Out.
    Important: If you sign out of the Kindle for Windows 8 reading app, all downloaded content will be removed from the device. You must sign in again to re-download the content from the Cloud to your Windows 8 device.
After signing out, you can connect your Kindle app to another Amazon account.
