Made in China??
February 19, 2018
The very first time I used the 1/2" to 3/8" reducer, it snapped like a dry twig. Most of my tools have been Snap-On and Mac and only picked up this set because the price was unbeatable. This item was a backup to a Snap-On set. l'll try and see what the warranty is like. If that's a hassle, then it's not a huge deal. Just have to be more selective in tool purchases, in the future.
UPDATE : As per my experience, do NOT bother with pursuing warranty. No response from the seller. Just toss away the broken tool/s into the metal scrap heap. I'm sure all the scrap heads back to China and get converted into these these sorts of tools. Lesson from China?? "Give us your scrap and we'll gladly turn them into consumer products. No problem. Pay only a few 'dallas' "
UPDATE AGAIN :-) This item was very cheap in price, but I have in the past bought more products from TEKTON and began to think that throwing away tool after tool wouldn't be very sensible. So, I decided to go online on the manufacturer's website : www.tektontools.com and had an online chat with tool support and talked to Russ Vandervelde. He was very courteous, professional and helpful. He assured that the Tekton tools do indeed carry a Lifetime Warranty. All he needed to see was a picture of the broken tool, which I emailed to him at : firstname.lastname@example.org. He emailed me back on receiving this and said he would send me a new replacement. I did receive a new one today and I'm happy about that. More than that, I can rest assured that the tools I have purchased do carry a warranty, regardless of their longevity (of this, I'm still skeptical, especially on some items where one has to apply muscle to it). At the very least, I would think that some tools are prone to breakage. Good news is that I'm not paying an arm and a leg as I normally would purchasing from the likes of Snap-On and Mac dealers. Secondly, the company stands behind its warranty.
Hopefully, this feedback will help some buyers. In case you need to phone up the company : 1 888 648 8665
(disclaimer : I've NO connection with this, or any other companies, on the Amazon site. None of them have offered to gift any items or provide any bonuses for the sake of a favorable review. It would be nice, if that happened to be the case :-))
