Safe, but definitely not recommended
March 1, 2019
This product is great for safety purposes only. It definitely will not hurt your child. However, they’re impossible for the child to use independently. The paper has to be thick (construction paper) to cut it at all, and it has to be held 100% straight for the scissors to cut. If the paper is on even a bit of an angle, the scissors will turn it sideways when closed and they will not cut. So you’ve got to hold the paper for your child to make each cut until they’re old enough to hold it that way themselves, at which point they’d be old enough not to consider the safety aspect. Also, my son (who’s nearly 2) wanted to use scissors to cut open a package of snacks, and the scissors would not cut the plastic package at all. This type of thinking is something I’d like to encourage, and the scissors would not allow him to follow through with this idea.
