Ahhhh, I absolutely LOVED this book! It was honestly everything and more. I loved Noah, I loved Ruby Grace and I loved the whole storyline! It made me happy and bubbly. Noah and Ruby Grace together were just perfect. Of course like usual Kandi style there was also heartbreak and you weren't sure what was going to happen! I could not put it down, it was simply AMAZING and I can't wait to read about the rest of the Becker brothers!
All the makings of a best selling Kandi Steiner novel!! Oh gosh this book certainly had ALL THE FEELS!! It was sweet, sassy, heartwarming, angsty and beautiful! It had a nice slow burn throughout and being a small town romance just made it even better! These two characters were just fabulous! I love the intense and emotional feelings I get while reading this author and this book did not disappoint! I absolutely loved it!!
"Every experience is an opportunity, no matter how trivial it may seem."
On the Rocks is my first book by Kandi Steiner and it will certainly not be my last. This story is all about the Tennesse Becker brothers, The Barnett family, all the small town feels and drama, and of course whiskey. I loved the small town vibes in this story and all the little quirks it has. The secondary characters, for the most part, I loved (especially Betty). We learn a lot about the past of the Becker and Barnett family and they're perceived through their town.
"I realized it was a longing, a sense of loss. Because no matter how I tried to deny it, I wanted her to be mine."
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Ruby Grace being engaged but still developing a friendship and relationship with Noah but it wasn't cliche at all and how it all played out was perfect in my opinion. I absolutely loved Noah and Ruby Grace together. I don't think either of them would have thought 10 years prior that they would end of falling in love with each other. Noah proved so much to Ruby Grace, the main point being that you don't have to sacrifice yourself and your dreams for someone else. If it's meant to be, they'll wait for you or follow you so you're able to achieve your dreams. Ruby was going to do the unthinkable to support her family the only way she knew how but in doing so she would have led a life of misery. Ruby Grace's character grew so much in her journey for true love and I loved every second of it. I did not expect what played out with Anthony and Ruby Grace's father but in the end, Anthony receives his just dessert.
I can't wait for Logan's story coming this fall. I need more of the Becker family and a glass of whiskey right about now!
“Well, I’ve heard some of the best adventures come from finding yourself a little lost.”
This small town romance was perfectly sweet and set my heart pitter-patting. When home-town boy Noah is struck by the beauty, poise, and kindness of Miss Ruby Grace Barnett, it is only a matter of time before he realizes she is the one. She is the girl he didn’t believe existed. She is the girl who will make the perfect wife, be the perfect dance partner, and be the perfect team mate. Now if only Ruby Grace can see it, too, before she walks down the aisle to be all those things for another man.
On The Rocks envelopes everything I believe small-town America is. The southern charm, the county parties, award-winning baking, Sunday dinners, all of it. On The Rocks is what I imagine small-town America to be and I was totally swept away. Kandi takes books to another level. She creates a family that the reader becomes part of. I always feel like I'm one of the gang when I read her books and I'm always ready to join the party; On The Rocks is no different. Four brothers raised by a single mom due to tragedy, town gossips, small-town hierarchy, long-time citizens who know everybody and every thing. All of these characters come together to make this story right.
Noah and Ruby Grace make the local tongues wag just standing still so every step or move they make is under the watchful eye of someone. Rumors fly, and true or not, they are the talk of the town. Kandi is well known for her resident strong female supporting characters and she has provided an amazing one this time in the form of a little old lady who is wise beyond her 80 years and who knows you don't just sit around waiting for life to happen to you, you make it happen. She made me laugh and miss my own grandma.
I always watch for the 'first time' parts in a book, they remind me what it is like to fall in love. Noah and Ruby make us wait for bit but when it happens, boy it happens! We should all be so lucky.
Noah Becker has his job cut out for him if he is going to sway Miss Barnett his way. Some people are pulling for him, telling him to fight for his woman while others are giving him different advice and telling him to steer clear of another man’s woman. But, chemistry doesn’t lie and magnets attract.
Every part of this book gave me the Kandi feels. She writes romance so well and whether it is hot and steamy, angsty and emotional, or sweet with a slow burn, she does it right. On The Rocks had me rooting for the other man, with good reason. Noah Becker and Ruby Grace Barnett belong together and Kandi shows them how to do it right. Their HEA had tears in my eyes because, surprisingly, there is more to life than falling in love. Life is for living and Noah makes Ruby’s life a life worth living.
Kandi Steiner has just given us the beginning to a series that is sure to keep us coming back for more. I predict that readers are going to want more even after the last book is penned.
This story is so vivid and Ms. Steiner's words build such a detailed visual of the characters and the town of Stratford that I just want to be part of this town and the people.
Ruby Grace is back in town to finish planning her wedding. She's going to be a politicians wife and hopefully help change the world.
Noah is a barrel raiser for Scooter Whiskey. He is making sure that his family name stays in the history of the business even though is daddy is gone.
Ruby Grace is buying a barrel of whiskey for her fiance and lo and behold it's bad boy Noah Becker that shows her the barrel. The boy she sat behind in church, the boy who is all man, the man who should not be on her mind when she's marrying someone else.
"He was a lightning storm, fun to watch from afar but dangerous to dance with."
Noah isn't impressed by the young woman with her nose in the air coming to see her whiskey. But wouldn't you know the little miss fancy is none other than Ruby Grace Barnett and she's not so little any more. Noah knows he shouldn't be thinking about her, she's much too young and she's about to be married but damn if he can't get her off his mind.
"If you were mine Ruby Grace, your dreams wouldn't come second to anything."
Gah this book!! It's so well written and it's not only the story of these two that draw you in but the glimpses of the other characters lives that you know will lead into their own stories at some point. Oh and lets not forget Betty. I want to be Betty when I'm older and wiser. She was such a spitfire of a character and added so much to the story.
Just six short weeks until her wedding the Mayor's Daughter, Ruby Grace, suddenly starts doubting her future with her soon- to- be politician fiancee. Overwhelmed in wedding planning, Ruby's mother sends her to the town's Whiskey Distillery to purchase a barrel of the town's finest whiskey.
Unprepared for the walking conditions at the Distillery, Ruby Grace silently curses her mother for making her wear heels. Taking pity on Ruby for putting her through the unnecessary walk, Noah suggests she remove her heels. Fully ready to shut the idea down, Noah removes his shirt and lays it at her feet, literally. *Swoon*
There were so many scenes I loved in this book, whisking Ruby away to ride horses and dancing together in the pool... and Betty! OMG she's the best but what I really loved was the characters and the overall feel to the story.
Watching Noah fall for Ruby Grace was inspiring and swoon worthy. I literally felt the tender moments between them.
On the Rocks was a perfect, small town romance that I highly recommend. I can't wait to read about the other Becker Brothers.
*I received On the Rocks as an ARC for an honest review*
On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner is a sweet and sassy contemporary small-town romance. Told in dual points of view between Noah and Ruby, this romance will make you swoon, has just enough angst to keep you completely hooked, and is so well-crafted that the slow-burn will literally set you on fire.
Noah is the bad boy, the one Ruby is warned away from many times. First, as a child in church later as an example of who NOT to associate with. An older, sexier, rough around the edges man who sees Ruby for who she truly is, not who she has crafted herself to be for her family's sake. Ruby has always been intrigued by Noah but her return to town and recent run-ins make it all the more obvious that who she is with is nothing like who she needs to have in her life.
There has not been a Kandi Steiner book I've read that I haven't absolutely loved and obsessed over. Enjoy!
3.5 Stars⭐⭐⭐💫 On the Rocks is a standalone romance with a bit of a country vibe and it falls under the age-gap trope (9 years age difference). While I did like the story, for me it was missing that wow factor.
The writing was descriptive and I easily pictured the scenes and characters in my mind. Ruby Grace and Noah were likable enough, and the attraction between them could be felt. I loved how supportive Noah was of Ruby Grace's dreams and goals, and that he really encouraged her to find herself and go after what she wanted. Still, I didn't find myself completely invested in their journey, and I'm not really sure why.
In the end, On the Rocks was a satisfactory read. A somewhat predictable story arc but still a nice way to pass the time.
On the Rocks was on the lighter side of angst but it still has everything that I love – a little drama, lots of swoony moments, a small town in the country and a loving family. I absolutely love this intense, heartwarming and meaningful story.
