The colors are quite good - better than I expected in this price range - provided you calibrate it, which is pretty much standard with monitors these days. Search this model on Youtube and you'll find help there. I'd link but then I think my review here will not get posted. Out of the box the brightness is obnoxiously high. I have mine on a VESA mounting arm attached to my desk, so I can't comment on the stand. I never used it. Colors are pretty constant at all viewing angles. Mine had no dead pixels and no noticeable light bleed.
I'm editing pics and vids, so color representation was more important than responsiveness. On that note, the caveat of this monitor is the AMA settings - BenQ's Advanced Motion Acceleration. As far as I can see it just creates ghosting. It looks similar to vids rendered with resample enabled, if you're familiar with editing.
There is noticeably less eye strain with this monitor. In that regard it's great. Adding the blue light feature is good only if you're using the monitor primarily for reading. It interferes with accurate color representation for editing pics and vids. And with the monitor button placements it's awkward to be switching back and forth, so I leave it off. The flicker free setting on its own is enough to reduce eye strain.
You'll find a very good, in depth, review of this monitor at PCMonitors dot info, where they address the AMA ghosting issue. Taken from them, here is a sum of the 3 AMA settings:
- With AMA 'Off' there is a bold and discrete primary trail and very faint secondary ghosting trail.
- With AMA set to 'High' it weakens the primary trail somewhat and reduces the secondary trail
- With AMA set to 'Premium' there is obnoxiously bright trails of ghosting
So AMA set to High is actually the setting with the least ghosting. It's acceptable by me.
I think the average user would be very happy with this monitor. Especially the contrast and color. It's a very good compromise between the lesser quality of TN panels and the higher quality of IPS panels at an affordable price.
I'd give it a solid 7.5 or 8 \ 10
