Day 2: I totaly ignored her whenever she gave me the ball to put in the machine, so she figured out that she had to do it herself. So now, she has learned to play with it by herself. (Now she doesn't keep bothering us to go downstairs with her to play after a long day at work!) She destroyed two of the blue balls by ripping off all the fuzz and gutting them, so I bought the XS Kong squeaker tennis ball 3-pack at the petshop, as someone mentioned in another review. I'm expecting the Kong products to last a lot longer. (And it's fun to have the squeak!)
She slobbered a lot the first day, so put a paper towel underneath it. Now I know not to let her play too long with it, so the balls don't get so wet.
One week later: Our dog is still completely obsessed by this toy. The Kong balls work ok, but get stuck often once the fuzz gets loosened. I bought squash balls, which she absolutely loves for the bounce and probably texture and durability, but they get REALLY slobbery, so after two or three times, they get stuck unless I wipe them off in a paper towel before putting them in there (which sort of defeats the purpose of independent play). She goes into a barking fit when the balls get jammed, but she doesn't like to play with the remaining blue iFetch ball which never gets jammed. Sigh. I'm still happy with this purchase...I just wish the balls were more durable and less fuzzy.
She seems to have lost all interest in her other toys and balls.
Best investment ever!
I registered it in Canada and after a month or so, it broke and the company was really good about sending a replacement right away. As long as your dog doesn't overdo it and you clean the gunk every so often, it lasts.
I have read that tennis balls work as well but I didnt find that to be the case. They do launch but only a few feet. Instead buy Kong balls and those work perfectly. Overall great toy, its sturdy and keeps my dog entertained.
After maybe 4 times, the tennis ball is wet and more oval than round. It's too heavy and odd shaped and gets stuck on the machine so I constantly have to shimmy the ball out and try it again or increase the setting.
I've tried other balls (like a lacrosse ball) but once it's too wet (slobber) then the machine won't throw the ball either.
I think the "teeth" on the gears that chuck the ball need to be improved to always grab a ball even when wet.
It's currently in my garage cuze it's fustrating to use.
I wouldn't recommend it for large strong dogs.
Rings which I have yet to be able to resecure. This makes me wonder how well it will hold up - the rings/seals need to be attached better and make of something more durable.
The launcher part is awesome. It doesn’t launch once the balls get a dusting of snow because the spinner inside can’t get a grip on them.
This Yorkshire terrier learned how to play fetch from his big Goldendoodle brother whose whole existence was love, love BALL! and food. LOL. But we just lost our beloved once in a lifetime special dog, Sam to lymphoma cancer after 11 years of perfect health. Within 2 weeks of the first vet visit I made the decision to euthanize and this dog never knew pain and I always promised that he never would.
But his little pain in the butt buddy went into a confused funk. He’d never had little dog toys because the big guy easily and quickly destroyed them. So we bought toys!!!
Tank our yorkie doesn’t understand outside fetch yet tho but we are working on it.
It weird that he hasn’t figured this toy out because he’s pretty smart. I’m looking at small dog learning toys for treats as he’s a ratter and loves the hunt. We live in the country and he has caught a few mice!
This product works!!! It throws the ball as far as it says but we’ve been using it inside across a space of about 30 ft with no issues.
I only wish it came with a few more balls as these little ones roll under EVERYTHING! And it would save me belly flopping reaching under the sofa or chair to retrieve them every few minutes
A good fun toy!!

They know that the ball needs to go in the hole. They just haven’t put it in themselves yet and I have to wipe them down because the balls don’t go far when they are slobbery.

Dennoch bereitet uns der I fetch Too ser viel Spass .
