Considering the price, the sound this puts out is fantastic. I also bought the 2 speaker set (IHM78) to try. This latter set, although containing 2 speakers, puts out less sound, noticeably less bass, and has too much treble/mid range. Moreover, the fact that the IHM78 speakers are connected via ~2 foot long cord limits the spatial impact of having 2 speakers. The IHM60 on the other hand, despite being a single speaker, packs much more of a punch-- especially in the lower register. A fun tool for summer and highly recommended.
And the revised bit:
It stopped charging/working completely in March 2013, so we got a total of 10 months out of it. In that time it worked well, and we used it for about 3 days a week at about 6 hours/day. Customer service was much pretty useless for Canadians, we'd need to ship it back at our expense, and include a $10 money order in US funds to get it looked at and returned by their techs in Texas. The overall cost is probably more than buying a new one. If I'd checked that the warranty was 3 just months when I bought it, I would have gone with another brand in the first place.
The cords are too long and make a jumbled mess.
There is a blue light on the base that glows like the sun at all times. It is very bright and annoying and needs to be covered by multiple pieces of duct tape.
the charge lasts a long time, though sometimes when the usb is plugged in the speaker emits a constant faint high pitched whine. not at all unhappy with the purchase!
The iHome IM60GT 3.5mm Aux Portable Speaker is my least favorite of them all. Although the sound quality is good, not great, the volume is not very loud and even worse is this speaker has a tendency to buzz. The only thing that it is plugged into this speaker is my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. While the music is playing, I do not hear the buzz, but every time it switches to another song, there is a rather loud and distracting audible buzz. It ruins the flow of one song blending into another.
My favorite of all the speakers that I now own is the iHome iM59WC Rechargeable Color Changing Mini Speaker. It is identical, comes with the exact same accessories, is the same size, phenomenal sound quality, and the speaker has a louder volume, WITHOUT any maddening buzz. No Bluetooth necessary, just charge and plug into your music device. Like the iHome IM60GT it is able to be compressed, easily fitting into a regular size pocket and it is the same price.
The only visible difference is that IM59WC only comes in white, and the option of the color-changing chamber that can easily be switched off. The audio difference is that the volume output is louder and there is NO ANNOYING BUZZ.
To summarize my review, Yes, get the iHome portable speaker, just a different model at about the same price, for under $20.00. There is a huge difference. Although, the IM59WC has the same features, and the same convenience, it has a louder and a better quality sound without the irritating and distracting buzz that I received from the iHome IM60GT.

I like having the portability, even if I can tell that the sound quality is "meh". Anything is better than my phone or laptop speakers. Read morePublished 17 months ago by Kakit C.
Good little unit. It will not "fill a room" but gives good volume for the small size. Charges quickly and lasts pretty well.Published 19 months ago by Terry Busch

Probably on par with some television speakers. It has clear response without having too much bass like most speakers nowadays, it can get pretty loud without clipping, overall a... Read morePublished 22 months ago by Kansas Crane
