The Cube comes with Fire OS 7 32-bit, so, most apps you’ll side load will not be compatible.

They have locked down the settings so you can only allow certain downloaded apps access to install from unknown sources.

You cannot change app permissions to access the storage as that has been locked down.

It’s essentially a nice looking brick that’s only foot for Netflix or PrimeTV.

Until someone roots this device, it’s useless. You’ll be better off buying a Fire Stick 4K than upgrading the hardware because the stick performs perfectly as is. The stick is on Fire OS 6 and which most apps run smoothly on. Theres no plans to make it useful judging by the locked down OS and settings available are by design and I’m told will continue to get more restrictive.

TLDR: Hold off till it’s confirmed it can be rooted because Amazon is tightening the noose. Buy a NVidia Shield if you want the power and app freedom.
