I popped in this SSD to replace my aging hard drive. Performance has improved by about 3x. It is gratifying to see boot times sped up and what used to take ages now take far less time. Updating Windows has also been improved. There are many free software available for cloning from the old HDD to the new SSD. I have two suggestions: Macrium Reflect and Minitool Partition Wizard. If you prefer a paid-version, go for the time-tested Acronis TrueImage software. All of them works well. Honestly, if you just do cloning or imaging, the free ones work just fine.
Swapping out the old mechanical drive for an SSD is one of the most cost-effective ways to rejuvenate the life of old PCs. Sometimes it is tempting on the basis of cost to go for cheaper alternatives that are relatively unknown. I caution against that. Go for a known brand.
