Although his book is written by a doctor, it has a ton of information that is presented in an easy to understand way. Dr. Hyman explains how sugar is the real culprit for many of our illness. Companies add various forms of sugar (ie high fructose corn syrup as just one example) to our foods to get you to want more of it. The companies get rich while you get sick. Many people can diet and exercise faithfully and not loose much weight because of the stored up sugar in the body that is sabotaging their efforts. Do your own research and learn how many forms of sugar there are out there and check for them in the foods you would eat. Since I starting following the suggestions in this book, I have indeed noticed an improvement in some issues that were affecting me. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand to the connection between sugar and obesity. Dr Hyman will help you on the road to a healthier lifestyle by encouraging whole foods rather than processed foods. You might even find yourself saving money by making your own healthy meals. Imagine if every 5th grade student was required to do a book report on this book, how it might put the brakes on a global epidemic of obesity.
