When I purchased this book I knew nothing about wine. I was the person who went into the liquor store and bought the coolest looking bottle when I was going to a party or looked for wines that won 'awards' (it turns out the wineries actually buy those awards!!!). Now I am able to go into a real wine store and pick out bottles I like, how to order wine off of a wine list and pair wine with foods. I understand how wine is made and the different varietals!
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn the basics about wine and even discuss it with people who think they know a lot about wine - you may even come to find out you know more!!
This is a fantastic book. Probably one of my most recommended this year. I love how Marissa (you will feel you are on a first name basis by the time you are a few pages in!) writes and think this book is genius!
I am enjoying this book. It is easy to read and understand. The author explains all of the terms used in making and tasting wine in a clear and concise manner. The language is very blunt and if you are sensitive to raw, often foul language don't purchase this book. If you are a person who enjoys buying and drinking wine but feels lost in the techno babble this may be a good choice. It keeps it simple and is a good starter info book.
I purchased this for my wife who is a wine lover and she just loves it. She's become very knowledgeable, when it comes to the history of wine, regions, wine types and so on. I would highly recommend this book for the uninitiated, after reading it, I can say with assurance; you will no longer be a novice, when it comes to wine.
Not only is this book super informative and a breeze to read, it is hilarious. I have been recommending to all of my friends no matter their level of wine knowledge. The only problem is, every time I pick it up I instantly want a glass of wine. But maybe that’s not actually a problem. ✌🏼❤️🍷
I never even knew that I wanted to learn/read about wine until I started following Marissa, even before she wrote this book (her wine tasting notes are literal poetry). I was pretty sure that I would enjoy it, knowing how hilarious and vivacious she always is, but it FAR exceeded my expectations; it was so informative, but still easy to digest and retain (no puns intended). It's pretty weird that I would feel comfortable recommending this as a read even if you don't want to know about wine, but I would! Marissa's awesome vibe was totally captured in book form.
