I enjoyed reading the end of illness and would recommend this book to anyone seriously interested in taking control of their health. Written in easy to understand language the book covers current and future innovations in controlling our health and longevity. Dr. Argus discusses technology that is currently available to us - DNA testing- and then covers research that is currently being done and will be available for public use within the next 10 -20 years. Be also makes suggestions of changes that we can begin today in order for us to help secure a healthier course throughout our later years. I found the material fascinating, helpful and definitely doable. A good read!

I was fortunate enough to read this challenging book before my annual physical, copyied the questionaire and completed it. When I asked my physician if he had read it, he replied that he wouldn't read a book that could put him out of business.
Notwithstanding this reply, I was pleased that the tests he prescribed for me were all covered by Dr. Agus and he asked that I call him to discuss the results.
The book especially appealled to me because it made practical sense in directing me to consider my body's health as a system that could get out of sync. I am retired and able to eat, sleep and exercise at virtually the same time each day. As Dr. Agus suggests, I find this helpful.
I also find that his recommendation to keep moving an important part of maintaining my health. As it happens my doctor prescribes a satan and a low dose aspirn as well as a thyroid stimulant and nothing else; like Dr. Agus he believes there are side effects to most drugs. As a result of Dr. Agus's book, I have cut down on the supplements I take and limited my vitamin C to the winter months when I am getting less sunshine.
It is a great book that focusses the reader on his or her health in a practical and useful manner.

I never read the book but my husband did and was quoting from it all the time. The practical health information so impressed him we bought it for our son for Christmas. I asked him how many stars it deserved and he said five,so I submit this for him.

I learned lots from this book including a new way to look at cancer - not as a disease as we normally look at it.

This book (mine on CD) is a very interesting look at various aspects of how we deal with 'health' and 'illness'. Even if you will find some of the info surprising or would like to disagree, this is an eye opening book, well worth the time. The info is referenced to many studies and the overall perspective will make you think differently next time you visit your doctor or browse your grocery store. A great look at our health and medicine as a whole, as well, getting pointers for our daily living. Easy to understand, no big medical words to slow you down. I got through this in a few days while sitting in my car during the rush hour. A great way to make you think.

In this book, Dr. Agus elegantly summarizes some of the most significant clinical findings in recent years that pertain to the study of aging and disease. The opinions presented are supported by a wealth of published research, much of which points to inflammation as a key player in the onset and progression of many forms of illness, including cardiovascular disease and cancer. In viewing the human body as a system that depends on a delicate homeostatic balance, the author shows us how illness in one part of the body, and treatment thereof, can have unforeseen consequences elsewhere in the system. Rich with information, the book offers the reader simple guidelines to follow to control the controllable health risks that we face on a daily basis, even those that we never previously viewed as risks at all. This book is not the final word on health and prevention of disease, nor does it claim to be; however, it will challenge you to think about illness from a novel perspective.
